Quantcast

A veritable plethora of videos for Koei's first Wii effort, Samurai Warriors Katana, are now available on your Internet, and all I have to say right now is ... get them off my Internet. Now you know me, I love Koei with all my heart, but this is ... no.

The above video does not look like a fun game to play, and I am frightened by the idea that there are people who think this looks like a fun game to play. Someone had to really believe the above was good enough to release to the bloody public. That's the kind of thing you hide.

I was starting to claw back a little hope for Katana, but this is one on-rails shooter/awful waggle horseriding game I am going to have to pass up. Needs more Kessen, I think. The game has been announced as a January 15th US release. Again Koei, you might want to keep that quiet.

Hmm, it seems to be a first person sword game with all the style and grace of a first person shooter. Perhaps if you did something more than hack down morons who use Doom 1 AI strategies.

If they totally redid this game, except that the AI was actually smart and you had to use a mix of clever blocking and opportunistic slashing to win, I would get it in a heartbeat.

Good god, the first video makes the controls seem like the most cumbersome controls in the history of controlling.

I just vommited a little in my mouth. I suppose waving the Wii remote is tantamount to pressing A alot so you can't be angry about the waggle sword fighting but god that horse part was bad and the shooting looked dumb. And the graphics are...i just vommited again.

Complete...utter...garbage. But what did anyone really expect from Koei? Every game in their library is crap!

Haha, on a scale of one to ten, that game looks like complete ass. Actually, I think the gameplay looks like good mindless fun, but those graphics would be embarrassing for a DS title. I'm tempted to buy this just for comedic value.

That was nasty, fugly and almost funny. I know the Wii and a graphics powerhouse, but House of the Dead on the old arcade machines looked better. Yikes.

On a side note, someone tell Destructoid to stop it with the damn Tabula Rasa ads in the side. It's sucking out all of Firefox's vital fluids and making the videos all laggy(and the annoying buggers disabled the "Quality" menu setting.) I don't have a dual core, but my cpu still ain't no pipsqueak.

Oh come on Jim, it can't be much worse than a regular Dynasty/Samurai Warriors game. :P

Yeah, very, very bad. All I want is a decent if not VERY GOOD katana / sword based game for the Wii. Is that so hard?! :(

Hahah, I want to learn how to conjure antigravity wooden crates out of nothing. Those are the perfect weapon, unless the person you're throwing them at has legs.

You know I love Koei as much as you, but I could've told you from the start that this was gonna suck.

Good lord! The damn overlays are taking up 90% of the screen!~ I was just marveling at how portal uses no overlays. So much prettier.

Wow, not a single piece of original art or music in there.

Kessen would be a great idea for another sequel on Wii though. I've been trying to get a copy of Kessen III over Goozex lately.
