Samurai Shodown VI finally playable on U.S. consoles by way of anthology photo
     OMG poniez!

I hope that none of you have had the misfortune of missing out on the Samurai Shodown games, as they're some of the best 2D fighters ever produced. But if you have been avoiding the series for whatever reason, there's still hope: a compilation disc will be out later this year that contains practically every title in the franchise (Samurai Shodown, II, III, IV, V, V Special, and VI).

Thanks to an interview with SNK at GDC, we know that Samurai Shodown Anthology will be out in Q4 for PS2, PSP, and Wii. The best news, however, is that  Samurai Shodown VI, a game that hasn't been available in the U.S. outside of arcades, will be among the titles included in the package.

Looks like I'd better start thinking about getting a PSP right about now. Anyone else anticipating this anthology as much as I am?

Also, you know what Samurai fighting game I liked when I was young? Bushido Blade. It probably sucks if you play it now, but I kind of liked it back then. One hit kills FTW

Me, me me me me me. I am looking forward to this something severe.

Never played six at all, but loved the special edition of five. It's good of SNK to slap up some compilation disks for all these classic fighters.

I'm interested in it for the value, but the SS series on the whole has been hit or miss over the years. However, with everything they've crammed into this compilation, you're definitely going to get something that works for you.

Woah, little caption in the left hand corner? I was just doing the same thing!

As for SS series, this compilation will be win, especailly for an arcade perfect SS2. It's all about the Cham Cham.

But I'm curious at Grim's decision to get the PSP version. The Wii and PS2 offer much better ways to enjoy these games, both in terms of visuals and controls. So why PSP it? Am I missing something?

Bushido Blade doesn't suck now, it's still the best sword dueling game in existence.

Also this is an awesome compilation.

So much win it hurts.

@Jonathon Holmes
All about the portability. I have a long, sucky commute so the PSP version is welcome.

@scape
SS1 is there. I skipped over the comma the first time I read the announcement too.

SS on the go = win in my book. I don't plan on getting a Wii-compatible arcade stick (I still haven't been able to find a freakin' Wii in the first place) and I don't have a PS2.

How I've gone this long without a PS2, I'll never know. I was planning on getting a PS3 w/ full back compat this summer, but you all know how that's going.

One of these days I'm going to get a PS2 and a SHITLOAD of games.

I'll pick it up if it's 20 just to support 2d fighters. If anyone is looking for a great 2d fighter you can get bakumatsu roman (last blade) on the Japanese PSN for about 5 bucks. Last Blade isn't directly related to Samurai Showdown but it's basically a Mark of the Wolves caliber game that plays alot like Samurai Showdown.
