Samurai Shodown II, RocketBowl, and Shotest Shogi on XBLA this Wednesday photo

We've got another Xbox LIVE Arcade Wednesday loaded with content; whether or not that content is good, I'll leave for you to decide. In addition to the three games mentioned in the title of this post, there's also new DLC for N+ and Buku Sudoku, which I'll touch upon after the break.

First, there's Samurai Shodown II (400 Microsoft Points). While it's nice to see a classic SNK fighter priced so attractively, this XBLA version appears to be nothing more than a straight-up port. If you happen to own a PS2, PSP, or Wii, then your best bet would be getting Samurai Shodown Anthology.

Next up is RocketBowl (800 MS Points), a futuristic bowling game that grants your balls the ability to boost and jump. Sure, the premise sounds good in theory, but at $10, giving the demo a spin is going to be a must.

The third and final XBLA title for this week is Shotest Shogi (800 MS Points). Because I know literally nothing about Japanese chess, I'm not even going to attempt to explain how it works. If you're in the same boat as me, you will definitely want to use the game's interactive tutorial.

Those of us who downloaded the first DLC pack for N+ can tell you how mind-blowingly easy the levels were in comparison to the rest of the game.

As it turns out, a second DLC pack containing 150 harder single-player levels, 50 multiplayer races, and 25 multiplayer survival maps is coming out on Wednesday for 200 MS Points. I don't know whether to be excited or afraid.

Finally, new Buku Sudoku downloadable content will bring 1200 new puzzles to the table for 200 MS Points. Um, yay?

Holy crap, I've played Shogi on Clubhouse Games, and it is the second most confusing game on there. Second of course, to Koi Koi.

@Dex, agreed.. some of those games are just ridiculously confusing.

Looking forward to Samurai Showdown 2 though.. haven't purchased any of the other ports yet.

If the online isn't broken then I'll get Samurai Showdown II. Definitely my favorite from the series.

Hold on so is Samurai Shodown II online or local multiplayer only? For me, this would take the game from "must have" to "do not want".

@Infinite Obscurity
It looks like they have it listed as 2 player Live compatible and one of the screenshots shows an Xbox LIVE menu option.

What a nice game to add to Live. Well done SNK.

Come on Capcom, add SFA2 to Live.

Five dollars for a (hopefully) online enabled port of one of the greatest fighters of all time? Not bad. The only problem? Playing it with the 360's crappy d-pad.

Man, I LOVE killing Nakoruru. Usually with a fierce, hellish slash.

Samurai Shodown Anthology will definately be in my PSP collection... (Cuz I have no 360). I love a majority of SNK fighting games.

I'll be waiting for a Samurai Showdown anthology to be released on 360 instead.

I'm actually considering getting Buku Sudoku. I've got the trial downloaded, sitting in my hard drive. It's just a matter of spending the points.
