Samurai Gunn

Samurai Gunn to see wide release on PC, PS4, and Vita

6:00 PM on 08.27.2013

If you're out of the loop on Samurai Gunn, I'm right there with you. It's one of those games that's been playable in-person here and there -- enough to the point where the name sounds familiar -- which is terrific for folks who frequent independent meetups but that's about it.

This IGF-nominated PC game about slicing and/or shooting your friends wants to bring back local multiplayer and, thankfully, it's getting some publisher support for a Steam release this holiday season and PlayStation Vita and PS4 versions next year. Samurai Gunn has been picked up by Maxistentialism, of all companies.

Yep, another promising indie has been locked in for Sony systems -- maybe we should start listing out the ones that aren't. Might save time.

Samurai Gunn gets free big update, Mac release

Samurai Gunn is great. It's a mainstay in my living room, especially with the backwards compatible PS1 taking a dive (no more convenient Bushido Blade). I also gave it a 2014 game of the year award even though...more

The key to fun in Samurai Gunn is having friends

So, you read Chris Carter's review of Samurai Gunn and you thought to yourself, "Self, that's all well and good, but I want to see what it's like to become embroiled in the chaotic yet precise gameplay described in this...more

Review: Samurai Gunn

Samurai Gunn might be my favorite game at PAX

I didn't really know what Samurai Gunn was before today. It has one of those sort of cliché names that's easy to pass over if you don't have a particular reason to care. After playing it on the PAX show floo...more

Dyscourse is a survival game that's light on survival

Owchemy Labs’ Alex Schwartz is one of the bravest men I know. In the midst of GDC, perhaps the most inside baseball-heavy of all conventions, he told a member of the press that Dyscourse was a "survival game." Of c...more

Volume is a more thoughtful approach to Metal Gear Solid VR Mission-like stealth

Volume is a fitting name for a polygonal, Metal Gear Solid VR Missions-looking stealth game with enough rectangles to feed a geometry class for the entire year. In the case of Mike Bithell's Thomas Was Alone follow-up, howeve...more
