Samba de Amigo Wii to feature Mii integration and every color in existence photo

Back in October, Sega announced that it was bringing its Dreamcast hit Samba de Amigo to the Wii sometime in the spring of 2008. Well, it is now officially spring, Sega: Where’s the game? I turned my calendar to March 21 with a giant sombrero on my head and have been waiting patiently ever since.

Luckily, some Wii-specific screens have just been released and ... AHHHHH! MY EYES! MY EYES! Seriously though, the images look great, but I don’t remember the original game being this colorful. Mr. Furley called; he wants his ascot patterns back. Oh! *rimshot*

Blinding saturation aside, these new screens also seem to confirm some sort of basic Mii integration. Having your cute avatar dance in the background is a cool feature, but how much fun would it be to actually play as your Mii?

Speaking of wishful thinking, is it really that hard for designers to incorporate dual Wiimote play? I mean, I am fine with shaking my virtual maracas using the Wiimote and nunchuk, but wouldn’t using one Wiimote in each hand be so much "cooler"? I don’t know. Maybe it’s just me.

What do you think? Are you as excited about this game as I am?

[UPDATE: Dual Wiimote controls are now confirmed! Yay! Thanks, A New Challenger!]

Uh, supposedly dual Wiimote control is indeed one of the options they're going for, Chad, at least from what I've read.

o.o i just came every color of the rainbow. YES dual wiimotes would be genius, especially if used for a possible future Taiko Drum Master game.

You know what would be neat yet totally unnecessary? A single maraco that plugs into your wii mote! So you could have that wonderful maraco feel in your left hand, but also easy menu navigation!

Oh and PATENT PENDING!

Yes! I'm greatly looking forward to this game, as I've never had the chance to play the Dreamcast one with maracas. I bought a pair at a convention, but those jerks sold me broken ones.

Nice Mr.Furley reference. I'm cautiously optimistic in that I hope that they include lots of happy, wacky Japanese pop tunes. The U.S. version of Taiko Drum Master was vastly inferior to the original due to the crappy song selection.

I never got to play either of the dreamcast ones with Maracas either (and by either I mean the more or less add-on disc that is Samba 2k), so I made sure to throw some cash on a preorder when I picked up Smash Bros.

I can't wait, this is one game that always cheers me up.

Definitely can't wait for this. It's so nice to see an absurdly bright and colorful game to try and balance out the doom and gloom visuals of most modern stuff.

I'm kind of tired of Miis, but more color in games is usually a good thing.
