Sam's Club readies a midnight launch for Super Smash Bros Brawl photo

We totally dig that Sam's Club is stepping up their game when it comes to videogames, and now they send word that a Super Smash Bros. Brawl midnight launch is in the works.

The retailer will open up all US stores on March 9th at midnight to sell Super Smash Bros. Brawl. What's even better is that they've lined up a price of $43.66 for the game. The event will run until 2:00 a.m.

Sam's Club games buyer Joe Muha tells us, "Folks should come to Sam's Club as we will be the first place that they can buy it in their community. Additionally, we will have at least 20 units of Wii hardware at each club for the event."

That's really convenient for those gamers that have been holding out for this game's purchase to pick up a Wii.

On top of all of this, they also send word that Rock Band will drop in price to under $150. If you haven't picked it up already, this will save you a fair bit of money on the bundle.

More on Sam's Club's and gaming after the jump.

Muha says, "By buying games from Sam's Club, they can reap the savings of their Membership fee quickly. We are typically $5 less expensive than traditional retail on software. In something like Rock Band, we are $20 less expensive. If someone bought Rock Band and just 4 games, they will have paid for their Membership fee in savings for the year."

"Membership makes sense for hardcore gaming fans and Sam's Members have known this secret for a long time," says Muha. "We want to do our part to let the secret out to your readers. If that gaming Member responds to events like this, we believe we can do more of them to offer great savings first in their communities."

All, thanks for the feedback. Dale, thank you for posting this. I am Joe Muha, the buyer Dale mentioned and called. We truly appreciate the support and enjoyed the comments. Please allow me to address a few of them:
1) We now allow presale. Members can text "GAMES" to "SAMS1" to begin the dialog. Once we get the text, we will request an e-mail address and send all of the presale information. Right now it is site to home, but we are working on site to club. It is not ready just yet.
2) Our standard Wii is UNbundled. We did a bundle for Black Friday and that was the last one we have done.
3) I do not think that we have a 25lb bag of Cheetos :-)
4) The Membership fee is an ANNUAL, not MONTHLY fee. Advantage Member fee is $40 and Business is $35. If you buy a lot of games in a year, like I do, you will come out ahead. You all seem pretty hardcore!

If you do not have a membership, now is a great time to get one. We plan on making video games a MUCH larger portion of our business going forward.

Thanks, and if you live in Northwest Arkansas, I may see you at the Bentonville Club that night. Thanks again for all of the feedback. We certainly have more work to do to earn your business and we are really making an effort to do just that!

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?

Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
