Ubisoft may be a mute when it comes to Beyond Good & Evil 2, but at least we have an HD version of the original classic to keep us amused. Here's a teaser trailer for the upcoming remaster, which is due out on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network in 2011.
As you can see, it doesn't show much, but Jade's looking rather lovely in all her hi-def finery, and Pey'j is sexier than ever. I'd do him, anyway.
You picking this one up, or do you somehow have something better to buy?

Looks exactly like the PC version. This isn't anything special if you have played that version.
But who cares? The game is still absolutely amazing, its one of the best games ever made.
Owned the original on PC and still hate that it did so poorly for such an amazing game, even when it got such good reviews. If this HD remaster makes it to steam, I'm in for a buy.
Played this thing through twice back when the original Xbox version came out, but I'm pretty sure I'll double-dip and play it again. And continue hoping for a sequel the entire time...
Maybe it's just me, but some of these "HD" remakes look just like original. If these are suppose to look better, I don't see it.
Also, everyone needs to let go of any possibility for Beyond G & E 2. It's not happening. Ubisoft would be fools for making it.
Listen, I loved the first game. I would highly recommend it to anyone. Awesome game...but it sold like crap...and it's based on a less-attractive female with short, black hair and green lipstick...oh, and a pig for an uncle. The sequel would sell like crap, guaranteed.
I would love to play the sequel...but if I'm Ubisoft management, there's no way in hell that I approve it.
Like I said, I loved the game...so I have zero problem with Jade's appearance. In fact, it's refreshing to have a female character like her in a game.
That's not my point, though. I'm saying, look at it from a management perspective - If it was your job or company on the line, would you approve a sequel?
No, there is a difference. A very hard to notice difference. That much would be fine if they weren't calling it an HD Remake. That's misleading. HD just means "higher resolution" here, but when people think of the term obviously they're thinking of the more ideal "optimized for HD" remake.
I'll still buy it because the game never made enough money in the first place, and I wouldn't mind the convenience of playing the game on my newer consoles any time off my hard drive. For me it had a lot of replay value so it'll go to good use.
Im glad it still looks the same, i got a bit disheartened when i heard they were redoing the textures and models because i thought it would ruin the great look the game has. Canny wait for it.
My love for BG&E always brings me back to my love for Destructoid. It was the 6th game featured in the Bargain BinLaden feature. I got a used xbox copy for $6 and had the best gaming experience in a long time. I love this game, and I will be buying it.
@Skribble: LoZ WindWaker had a camera in it too. Cameras in game = win.
I bought it during the steam holiday sale, and somewhere in the middle (I guess) I didn't feel any reason to continue.. I'm not really sure what's so great about the title..I should read a review. :c
Believe me, I hope you are right and it does come out. For me, however, it's one of those things where "I'll believe it when I see it"...actually completed and on the store shelves...or if Ubisoft talks about it in the upcoming E3.
@Peteru
What did you not like about the ending? To each his own...but I loved the ending.
Man, where did all the naysayers come from? Here I thought most people enjoyed this game and now there's a series of people coming in and saying it's mediocre in various ways.
See, this is the good thing about Ubisoft. They seem to understand that this game was a critical and fan success even if it wasn't a moneymaker.
Some people think it's cynical to do an HD remake for a quick buck, but I really think it's the closest thing us gamers have to a (legal) game library. Good games should be preserved for future generations to enjoy.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Hopefully they'll get the sign with sales from this that a sequel should be in order.
More games need cameras in them, too. Pokemon Snap, Dead Rising, Fatal Frame, hell, even Afrika was fun despite its flaws.
But who cares? The game is still absolutely amazing, its one of the best games ever made.
This.
It's obviously them testing how great the interest in BG&E really is.
Love that this game might get a second wind, though.
"ah at least done with this fucking stealth-dungeon, let's go to the next where i can get some action... what? sneaking again? WAAAH"
seriously the sneaking parts sucked big time
BUT
More BG&E = Good thing.

there are less jaggies in the HD version! though yeah, negligible.
@Nerdy Suit
this and this tell me otherwise.
lmao typical grump who doesant get listened to, it was a beautiful game one of my favourites.
I also remember that the game itself was decent at best.
@Skribble: LoZ WindWaker had a camera in it too. Cameras in game = win.
still, i'll purchase this if only to support a game that deserves more credit and to show demand for a juicy juicy sequel.
Believe me, I hope you are right and it does come out. For me, however, it's one of those things where "I'll believe it when I see it"...actually completed and on the store shelves...or if Ubisoft talks about it in the upcoming E3.

BECAUSE IT PROBABLY DOES.
and still: i thought stealth sucked and was a way too big portion of the game
OPINIONS!
if they make a second with better stealth (or without) i'm in
