I installed it on my new laptop before going to work. Maybe I should play it right now.
I'll look into it now, though... thanks.

Saira is on sale for $8.99, Metroidvania fans rejoice
If you like Metroidvanias, you'll love Saira. If you hate Metroidvanias, you'll love that Saira doesn't actually feel like a Metroidvania. You'll love Saira if you have a pulse, basically. And $8.99 to spare. And Steam. I briefly lauded Nifflas' most recent exploration/platformer/puzzler in my 2009 indie game roundup, but it bears repeating: Saira is one of the most atmospheric, engaging, and varied exploration-based platformers ever. If you have any interest in games like Metroid, Myst, or Nifflas' classic Knytt series, you'd be doing yourself a disservice not to check it out (especially at this price).

Legacy Comments (will be imported soon)I always preferred the term 'Castleroid' over 'Metroidvania' myself. Anyways, checking this out now. Thanks for the tip. I bought it this morning! :D
I installed it on my new laptop before going to work. Maybe I should play it right now. I downloaded the demo for this recently and was extremely captivated. It FEELS like Knytt/Knytt Stories, but the new mechanics and graphics make it a more powerful game in itself. I'll definitely look into this. Purchased. It's not very often I buy a game with absolutely no info beforehand, so hopefully it's a good Metroidvania. I'm a huge sucker for them. so far so good! I'm enjoying it. Even booted into windows to start playing it. I wonder if it'll run on a netbook... I had no idea the game was like that, or supposed to be good. No video, no demo... idiots think indie games sell on advertising when they don't get any?
I'll look into it now, though... thanks. Oh god wtf. I love Knytt and Knytt Stories and this is sort of sucking so far. I'm really NOT digging this stupid turn into a white flying ball mechanic they seem to be pushing. All the previous games had great precise platforming mechanics, and this damn floating ball is anything but =/ OK, did a few more worlds and seems like only that first one used that thing extensively. Otherwise, game is awesome, love the focus on adventure gamey puzzle solving. I admire the valuable information you offer in your articles. I will bookmark your blog and have my children check up here often. I am quite sure they will learn lots of new stuff here than anybody else!
