Saints Row: The Third character sharing tool revealed photo

Volition has updated the Saints Row: The Third blog with a post revealing the "Initiation Station," a character sharing system the upcoming title will employ. Players will be able to upload their creations to the Saints Row community site from within the game across all platforms and download the characters of others directly to their PC or console without the use of complicated and lengthy codes.

The Initiation Station will be made available for free sometime preceding the release of Saints Row: The Third this holiday season, allowing folks to start making characters and make them available on the community site in advance of actually playing with them. Pre-ordering Volition's Red Faction: Armageddon will score you access to the Initiation Station a week ahead of everyone else if you just can't wait.

All of the popular downloads will be recreations of other video game characters. Oh boy.

Sweet, a steady supply of hot chicks of various ethnicities in purple thongs without having to make them myself!

That is actually pretty damn awesome. Good on you, Volition.

Why do I have to wait so long for this game to come out?!

Good because I have no imagination when it comes to character creation. Recently picked up Saints 2 & my guy looks so generic.

If only Armageddon were worth a damn. I like what they're going for, though. It'd be cool to have some kind of celebrity in the game without trying to figure out all the BS sliders.

What they didn't reveal is that you can only share characters with people who have the same DLC as you.

An endless stream of 'how to' character creation guides hit YouTube as soon as Saints Row 2 released, so it's good to know that Volition have taken this into account and implemented a feature which will hopefully bypass all of that hassle.
