Bleh. I gave GTA a chance this gen and they surprised me so I might give Saint's Row a chance but I've never felt compelled to play it. That header doesn't help.
Let's just hope they can fix more of that mindblowing framerate, either way I'm on board, loved the second one and I hope they add more classy clothes rather than jerseys and hood rat gear. Also British character voice forever.
Xzyliac, aside from all the ghetto gangsta tripe, Saint's Row 2 is amazing. A brilliant sandbox game, far, far, far better than GTAIV. A true successor to GTA: San Andreas.

Peter Molyneux is taking control of THQ's marketing division. Saints Row 3 will also feature dogs. Specifically, "a dog".

Agreed. There were classy suits and shirts etc. in SR2, but more would be nice. The Cockney voice was amusing.

I never liked GTA but for some reason GTAIV really won my heart. I think last gen GTA's just tried to do so much and so much of it was broken. It was quantity over quality.

I would of totally agreed with that a few months ago with SR2 fresher in my mind, but I recently did a playthrough of both of them, and whilst SR2 is more wacky and is much easier, GTA4 is just fucking incredible. I'd forgotten how incredible it is. Just made me even wetter for Red dead...

I was seriously impressed with the first Saints Row but I failed to pick up the second one. I thought I was just tired of the genre, but then I bought Just Cause 2.

Agreed with ChaosTeaCup. Loved the stupidity (any playthrough I do, the first thing I do is earn the no damage from falls perk, so I can throw myself out of helicopters for giggles) and loved SR2 as a game.
But GTAIV had this weight and presence that was inescapable, and I've not felt it replicated to date.
That said - I'm definitely on board for SR3, mind-blown or not.

If they can bring or even enhance then FUN I had in Saints Row 2, I would have no problem believing it.
If you want want mindless action and limitless freedom go with saints row,If you want story and atmosphere with more refined gameplay/controls go with gta.
SR2 spent a lot of time in my 360. Even after I finished playing it, I'd get on just to cause mayhem after a long day of mind-numbing work. I am looking forward to #3.
I think its competition is more with games like Just Cause 2 than with GTA now. With GTA4 and RDR, Rockstar is keeping things a bit more real. On the other hand, games like JC2, Crackdown 2 and eventually Infamous 2 will be making the "sandbox craziness" genre a more competitive space. Saints Row 3 will have to up the ante to stay relevant.
What I want in videogames is fun. GTA had alot of THINGS to do, but the fun factor just wasnt there for me like it was in Saints Row 2. I didnt even know a third was being made, this kinda just made my day.
It doesn't look like mind-blowing is her forte. But, SR3 will be played and probably enjoyed by me, regardless.
Fuck GTA, they lost me with IV...it just wasn't that good. Sure it had great story but it just wasn't fun like old GTAs. While SR2 had a pretty lame story, it was incredibly fun to play. I will pick up SR3 on day one no doubt
I'm totally stoked just to know its coming out. SR2 is what I wanted out of GTA4. More dressing up as a giant banana and poisoning rival gang members with nuclear waste, less "You fuk wit my CUZZIN!"
Saints Row was great. Maybe they could add some destruction like Red Faction. That would be awesome.
SR2 looks graphically like poop, and poops all over my high end PC. No matter how fun it might be I can't enjoy it the way it is since its too jittery to drive. Hopefully if they port it over again they will do a better job at optimizing for PC architect(GPU orientation more than CPU).

I have Saintsrow 2 and it was far from mindblowing, they'd have to re-write the engine or something to make Saintsrow 3 that much better
Man, I don't know. I bought Saints Row 2 over a year ago and am still only about 25% through it. It's in my pile of shame and I can't really see it climbing out of it. It just underwhelmed me. Meanwhile I've played every GTA IV expansion and loved them. I guess Saints Row is just too "goofy" for my taste. Nothing you do seems to have very much consequence and the story was annoying me. The graphics bug me too.

I'm with Patriot Snake in that Saints Row does look ridiculous and in that sense is a spiritual successor to San Andreas.
That said I didn't like San Andreas at all which may be why it's such a tough sale for me whereas GTAIV was really good.

hmmm it will wonly be mindblowing if it uses the red faction engine so you can literally level a city... now that would be mindblowng. I liked the 2nd game but split screen co-op would be much appreciated

Most people disapproving of Saints 2 don't even seem to have played it, which isn't surprising - that game changes the mind of a lot of people who don't like the look of it.

I fucking LOVED Saint's Row 2. Easily much more enjoyable than GTA4.

I loved SR2 so much, and I tend to stay away from sandbox games after GTA started taking itself way to seriously and choked all the fun out of the series. I will pick this up double quick. We need more fun sandboxes like SR2 and Just Cause 2. *prepares to have mind blown*
I shall do with this game what I have always done with these types of games. Run over people for two hours in a variety of vehicles then start the main story and about an hour get bored and play something else. And you know what? That's just fine by me.
They better bring back online gangs like they had in the first game. The multiplayer in Saints Row 2 was a fucking joke.
