Saint's Row 2 special edition isn't one you can take through customs

Saint's Row 2 special edition isn't one you can take through customs photo
     THQ

I think I'll wait until after I've moved to America to pick up Saint's Row 2, considering its special edition has the potential to get me arrested at the airport on suspicion of attempted hijacking. The special edition ships in a case with a big fat gun on the front, doing little to dissuade the player from the game's intentions. You know what you're getting then there's a big Beretta on the box.

As if that wasn't enough, you also get a golden bullet-shaped 1GB USB stick. That is joined by a rather suggestive Third Streets Saints poster, a map of the game's location, Stilwater, and a "limited edition" artbook which is like a book, but it's full of art. Epic. Exclusive content in the way of "buddy icons and wallpapers"also appears to be on the cards.

If you want this bundle, then you'll need to buy the Xbox 360 version. So far, nothing has been announced for PlayStation 3 and PC versions of the game, and THQ has suggested that this particular special edition is a 360-only deal.

That niggle aside, I'm glad to see that Saint's Row 2's special edition is as silly as the game itself is looking. The prequel took itself so seriously as a GTA clone that the whole production came off as awkward. I have high hopes that Saint's Row 2 will be the stupid, fun alternative to the more gritty and "realistic" Grand Theft Auto IV. We shall see on October 17, when the game finally launches.

You're moving to the States? Wanna exchange passports?

I'd have been excited for either the pistol or the memory stick...that's an awesome value...interested to know how much it'll all cost, though.

Also I read "That niggle aside" as "That nigga aside" and laughed hard :)

I remember reading somewhere that the special edition was suppose to come with one of those teeth 'grills' that has the kids going wild these days.

...I'm not sure if a beretta makes up for it, but it's pretty tempting.

According to the map, it doesn't look like there's a lot of area to the city. But if they can utilize each section to its fullest, that shouldn't matter. I liked the scale of the land area in GTA IV, it made the city seem a bit more real, but most of it had nothing of interest.

If there weren't so many other games coming out in October, I would think about this one. I don't know why they don't release big titles in the summer, like movies, and spread it out a little. Too many games I want are coming out in Oct/Nov.

i love how microsoft needs exclusive editions and releases to sell product. why a 1GB pen drive? worthless.

i'll be getting this for ps3 since my second 360 is on its way out (cant even bring myself to get castle crashers :( ).

id rather spend money on games and not multiple systems that keep failing.

Who is that special edition in Europe only? I just checked GameStop and the special edition they have listed is different:

Embossed Tin
Saints Row 2 Money Clip
Double-Sided Poster/Map
Exclusive Art Book
Silver Bullet Shaped 512 MB USB Thumb Drive
The Xbox 360 thumb drive features 4 X360 EXCLUSIVE Wallpapers, Buddy Icons, Mobile Wallpapers (320x240 and 320x480), Standard Wallpapers (1024x786 and 1280x1024) and Widescreen Wallpapers (1680x1050, 1920x1200, and 2560x1600)

Damn, it figures Americans would get shafted on something this cool.

In Australia special editions have been announced for both the 360 and the PS3 (but not for PC), I don't see why they wont do the same in the US/UK.

The 1 gb Flash drive will confuse console boys anyway.

What the hell is this thing!

it fit in my 360 but it don't do anything I can't copy games on it!" IT's broken"

"it says 1 gb does that means I can get beer 1 time at the store xbox live store?"

and if you think I am making this up I have got questions messaged to me from strangers constantly, like this from Xbox 360/ps3/wii console boys and even lamer ones from the ones obessed with junk games like saints row and GTA series.

Oh and the ones from people who use MAC OS are even more priceless.

Nice job microsoft I hope your tech support line is ready for all the stupid questions.

@cube

It does go in the 360 USB drive. It has wallpapers and gamer pics. Why would it confuse anyone? And why do strangers message you looking for tech support?

I believe we get this in Australia too.

And I have high hopes for Saint's Row 2. I found Saint's Row to be a damn sight more fun than GTA:SA in many ways, and I have no doubt that SR2 will follow suit against GTA4.

Each to their own, most certainly, but I would prefer Insurance Fraud and Snatch to insipid bowling dates any day of the week.

IT's guaranteed to be more fun than GTAIV. That game was a bore.

I can't wait for this one, too bad it releases on the same day as Rise of the Argonauts, one of my most anticipated RPGs ever. Sigh. Decisions decisions.
