I have a feeling there's going to be a lot of this cheese. There's just very little about who would appear that could be unexpected.
They'd have to create some new characters, though in Capcom's case that's more shoto characters and in Tekken's case another member of the Law family.

Also, If Eddie and Christy are in from the Tekken side, I do expect Elena from the Street Fighter side.

Capcom expressed that they'll be putting in the all stars of the SF series and Tekken, and not just lazily scrap up SSF4 characters and paste them in. He even said most characters on the SF side will be ones that didn't make the cut for SSF4.
So, I think a good chunk of the SF3 roster and Alpha 3 (R.Mika!) Will be in to suffice.
As for Tekken, the Mishimas and Kazamas, omitting Jun, will defo make it in, as well as the most TK6 cast will make it in.
Hwoarang will be a sure thing, seeing the whole Jin/Hwoa and Ryu/Ken rivalry.
Yoshimitsu is a regular, so he's in.
And idk after that :L

wheres elena at? capcom has shafted her in super street fighter 4 and now in arcade edition. "OH HEY GUYS I GOT AN IDEA LETS PUT ALL THE GIRLS FROM 3RD STRIKE IN SUPER4 EXCEPT THE BLACK ONE. YAY! YAY!" - said some capcom staff guy. Theres still time for her to be put in this game but i doubt it. sigh. she would fit in real well to. DAMN YOU CAPCOM!
I'm sorta hoping for a dream team of Viper and Alisa which is more likely than my far reaching hopes for a team of Lily and Karin.
@Jaw: Abel fucking kicks ass. I hated his design and never touched him till the 3D version, but now he's in my roster.
Who among the Tekken cast is a good match-up for Sagat? One of the Jacks? Roger?! I don't see Sagat versus Bruce Irvin being a marquee match.

I don't think anyone will really be excited over the charcters announcement.. I think everyone know that the original 12 will make it plus maybe the other 4 from super sf 2. I wish they would reveal less obvious characters.
If they add Elena in, I'll buy the game regardless of how bad it is. Otherwise...

Or even better, characters teaming up to take out each others problems, like Bob joining Chun and Guile in taking down Shadaloo..
