Seriously. Some of the most fun I have ever had with a game was with the Time Splitters series. Playing those challenges especially. Trying to stay alive during a Zombie Monkey invasion. Trying to break all the pieces of glass in a level in a time limit. Trying to kill as many mas sized chickens as I could before the clock ran out...All of these are amazing game experiences that I will cherish forever.
Give. Me. A. Fucking. Time. Splitters. HD. Collection. And. Then. Give. Me. A. Fucking. New. Time. Splitters. Game. NOW.
I played so much Timesplitters 2 back in the day! There was so many unlockables & challenges it was like CRACK.
I wish more shooters ran at 60fps...
Stick with a basic set of good gameplay, maybe just multiplayer and use a kick starter to get it out in the wild.
Then improve it piece by piece with expansion updates and bam, I'm sure it could work out.
People play TimeSplitters cause it has good gameplay, so what if it might look like an N64 game, that would be fine as long as the game itself is there. Don't need a high budget.
I think the devs just sorta gave up after all the bad happenings to them over time.
That being said, you *might* be able to fund a TimeSplitters HD Collection given that the base work for that is already done. If Crytek would be willing to do it, that is.
There, an FPS can be made by twelve year olds anytime with enough effort for fucks sake
Ok I'm over-reacting, but as a novel game designer I hate when someone says "making FPS is difficult and costly"... it is when you try to imitate blockbusters.
And you aren't allowed to say "because of the series" or anything like that.
also the reason TS4 would be revolutionary, is because its NOT realistic. its not modern, its not grounded in reality or wars. its everything all the FPS today arnt.
I, like so many others here, grew up with this series. I wasted so many hours playing this game with one of my best friends. Hell, I'm surprised the disc didn't meltdown from overuse in the system.
Why, why, WHY ARE WE BEING PUNISHED?!
Just a thought.
The HD remake dates back to 2008, back when HD remakes were a hot thing.
As for why make an HD remake at all? Presumably to get the game some new attention, particularly if they wanted to drum up attention for a new title in the franchise. And though I happen to like TS2's art style and model design, there were people saying it looked ugly and dated low poly even five years ago.
