Runner, a game made by Dtoid staff members, is now playable photo

Runner is a free, independent, downloadable game made by  Jonathan Holmes (sprite art), Ashley Davis (other art), and myself (design, programming). It was finished over the weekend (barring any huge bugs or problems), and is now available for download. You'll need Windows to play it, though.

You can get the game here (make sure to extract the RAR files into the same folder), and get the source code here if you inexplicably get the desire to clean up the code and make the game less of a ludicrous resource hog.

Please feel free to post any bug finds in the comments below, or by emailing me at reverendanthony [a t]gmail [d ot]com.

In about a week, I'll write up a postmortem/apology/explanation for the game. Until then, I'm going to try really hard to not comment on anything beyond bug reports or what have you.

Comments not appearing? Anti-virus apps like Avast or some browser extensions can cause this.
Easy fix: Add   [*].disqus.com   to your software's white list. Tada! Happy comments time again.

Did you know? You can now get daily or weekly email notifications when humans reply to your comments.

Review: Axiom Verge

It seems like a foregone conclusion when looking at Axiom Verge that comparisons are going to be made to Metroid. It is, without doubt, similar in more ways than it differs from Nintendo's iconic franchise. The differences matter, though, and Axiom Verge merges classic environment design with new mechanical twists, producing a game that feels both familiar and fresh at the same time.more

Whoa, Myriad looks like no other twin-stick shooter

It takes a lot for a twin-stick shooter to get my attention these days. I like the genre just fine, but it's so saturated that it's hard to muster any excitement for the next one that looks just like the last one. Thankfully...more
