I got to check this one out at pax and I can say that it still has that Nintendo hard difficulty that everyone loves about it. the guys said they're hoping for a fall launch later this year. can't wait to get my hands on it!

i've said it before and i'll say it again - that art direction is AWFUL. seriously ugly. i usually have a high tolerance for crappy style when it comes to games, but i can honestly say i wont be playing this solely based on its hideous look.
One of the biggest disappointments in missing PAX was missing playing this game early. I've never wanted to smash all my peripherals more
@ copyofcopy- Have you played it? If not, you may change your mind. It looks a lot better in HD and in motion. Once you stop comparing it to the Bit.Trip art style in your mind and take it for what it is, you'll see how great it looks.

I like the new checkpoints. One thing that always bothered me about the first Runner was how I could get really far only to be thrown back all the way to the beginning of stage by making a single mistake. This will make the game less frustrating, and when people feel they are good enough, they can skip the checkpoint and go for a higher score. Lower risk, lower reward. Higher risk, higher reward.

The most important thing in the Bit.Trip RHYTHM games is the music. Does Runner 2 feature the amazing 8-bit/chiptune music of Runner 1 or does it have generic sterile music to match the new generic sterile art style?
The comparison between this and Mario/Mario World is just not true in any sense, but whatever.
I, too, think the art style is absolutely hideous, but after playing it at PAX, I can say a lot of my fears were thrown right out the window. It's still an absolute blast... and the checkpoints/choice to avoid them is a great way to make everyone happy.

It actually does look better in motion, looking at that trailer. Plus Gaijin are awesome, so I will play this after I cut my teeth on Bit Trip Complete.
@ I LOVE HATERS - Maybe you didn't play the parts I did, but I grabbed a key to open new areas, experienced tons of horizontal and vertices, and experienced detailed cartoon-styled graphics that made the game's world seem more alive than it ever did in the prequels.

I like how they're adding checkpoints, since the lack of them in the first game ruined my enjoyment of it, since it was just frustrating, artificial difficulty.

This is so amazing on how this works. I really love this idea so much. You can get so much from doing this. This business will succeed so much in the future.
