Run to your Xbox collection! 360 backwards compatibility gets updated photo

The latest update for Xbox 360 backwards compatibility is here! Some of your favorite Xbox games like Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Jet Set Radio Future, and Outrun 2 are now playable on 360. With E3 2007 going on right now, the timing for this announcement is definitely unexpected, but we're not complaining.

Back when Best Buy had their huge game sale, I picked up Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay for $2 thinking that it would work on my Xbox 360 ... nearly 5 months later and it still refuses to play. Why must you torture my soul, Microsoft?

You guys know the drill; hit the jump to see the newly added/fixed games and pray to God that your favorites are on the list. If they aren't, yell profanities at your computer monitor or a nearby pet.

i dont think riddick will ever work. Microsoft will just make you buy the new one, and if you don't like it, well, tough titties.

Roryzilla is correct. Chronicles of Riddick will never be backwards compatible because then the remake would be a lot less appealing to consumers.

Yeah, leaving out chronicles of riddick is pure horseshit and there's no way it's not intentional. Thats the kind of shit that really gets under my skin and reminds me I mean nothing more than what I can spend. I know it's true of every megacorporation, but I don't like to have it rubbed in my face.

SEGA GT/JET GRIND RADIO combo disc version works now. SEGA GT worked, but now JGR. now it does and this update couldn't have come at a better time. i just got the game off ebay and i was pissed JGR wouldn't work. I prayed that 360 would update their list. Oddly this game isn't mentioned on the list, but sega gt and JGR got updates. i assumed it was the single versions, but just for the heck of it i put my combo version and it started doing the update download. i was like WTF! no way and the game started up, hell yeah!!!

Yes tazar, but now it's "updated." Apparently parts of the game were fucked up or something
Orionsaint's Avatar - Comment posted on 07/13/2007 00:53

tazarthayoot, yes JSRF the single stand alone version works. But there is a SEGA GT/JSRF combo disc version. That only came when you bought the Xbox console. That means both games are on one single disc. Well only SEGA GT was working on thisa disc. JSRF wasn't. Now suddendly it is. Works fine, although the game has some slowdown. Was it always like that?

@orionsaint: fuck yes. I have had the hugest need to play JSRF for almost a month now, but I'm stuck at college with my 360 and the combo disc, which only lets me play Sega GT. Why in the shit would I want to play Sega GT when I have Forza 2 sitting right here?

After a month of anguish, I can finally get my physically impossible skating on. This is the best news that I've heard all week.

For those of you who are wondering, basically every moment of my life where I am not grinding on a roller coaster while covering it in graffiti is torment.

I have to say horrary for GGX#R, JSRF, Doom 3:RoE, America's Army (I've been wanting to check that out) Yu-Gi-Oh and Morrowind (please God let the GotY edition work)

On another note, when the fuck am I gonna get Stranger's Wrath, Wrestlemania 21 and SVC Chaos on the list? When Microsoft?

And still No Beyond Good and Evil... And Still Mercenaries freeze the fuck up.... And Marvel vs Capcom 2 is still $100.00 on Ebay... And I got the JSRF on single disc because the bundle didnt worked on the last update... oh well... it was just $3. Im happy with Sega GT and Outrun
Orionsaint's Avatar - Comment posted on 07/13/2007 05:29

I got the bundle version for 3 dollars as well. hehe. probably one of the reasons it was so cheap was because it didn't work on 360. Now that it does. It may go for a lil higher.

Beyond Good & Evil and Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath are two games that should definitely be on this list.

I wonder if MGS2 will ever end up being BC, or are they afraid it will remind us that we have to buy a console from "that other company" in order to play any of the sequels?

Its a shame Jaws isn't on the list, I'm still itching to try that game out. Aside from that game I think the only one still on my wishlist is Beyond Good & Evil.
