Rumortoid: Veil soon to be lifted on new Wolfenstein

Rumortoid: Veil soon to be lifted on new Wolfenstein photo
     Xbox 360

If you’re anything like me, you’ve been waiting entirely too long to resume the role of B.J. Blazkowicz. Since the announcement of a new Wolfenstein title from id eons ago, all has been silent. According to CVG, that veil is soon to be lifted by next month’s edition of PC Gamer magazine.

It all started with a tiny little picture. It’s a huge pixilated headshot of B.J. from the original Wolfenstein 3D with the caption “He’s Back.” Interestingly, B.J. does look like he’s been shot a few times in the picture, as his nose is freshly wet with blood. Is this a foreshadowing of an injured Blazkowicz in the new Wolfenstein title, or is just an iconic image? Also, why must we be teased like this?

There are very few games out there that have captured me as much as Wolfenstein has. The playful abundance of swastika placement, Hitler boss fights, hidden passages, and super-awesome-wicked-nasty flamethrowers have helped define my experience with first-person shooters. Now, I can only sit back and pray to Thor that decent information finally comes out for this title.

I seriously don't get why Doom gets all the credit that Wolfenstein 3D deserves. That game scared me more than the former did in my childhood.

Wolf was pretty much my Computer sex game back when my mom had our old IBM computer. I remember always putting in the freakin coding cause you know...it was an IBM.

Wolf made me wet my pants cause I'd always find new passageways. I swear it sounded like B.J. was peeing when you pushed the spacebar up against non doors/secret passageways.

This is awesome but they may go single player focus which would suck.

Can you get a subscription to PC Gamer UK in the US? That's just about the one and only game mag I'd pay for. I currently get EGM for free and their anti-PC bias (to the point of listing games like Left 4 Dead as 360 exclusive) is annoying every time I look through it.

I'd very much like a new Wolfenstein, especially if it kept the same style as RtcW, and came with a similar amazing multiplayer system. Splash Damage BETTER make the MP for this one, too!

Jetsetlemming: The multiplayer is being done by Threewave last I heard (which was a very long time ago). Splash Damage is working on something with Bethesda.

RtCW was pretty fun, but I didn't like the overall look of everything. Hopefully this next one will have more throw back nods of appreciation in terms of style and gameplay. Either way, I'm sure I'll love it.

I always liked Wolfenstein, the occult spins on WWII were always refreshing. Looking forward to it.
