Rumortoid: Ubisoft to reveal new Clancy and Rainbow titles this year photo

Ubisoft are allegedly set to reveal two new games in the Clancy franchise this year. According to a CVG source person, one game will be for the Ghost Recon series and the other Rainbow Six. It is also possible that these two games could release before Christmas.

It has been awhile since we’ve seen a new GR or a fresh setting for Rainbox Six. The source person didn’t confirm is if these two games would be sequels or new spin-offs. Considering Ubisoft’s track record, we could be looking at new takes on both these games.

Personally, I would love to see both games return to their FPS roots. I adored the original GR for its slow pace and disciplined team play aspects. The switch to third-person perspective broke the experience for me. Third-person in outer space wouldn't be so bad though.

Think it over, Ubisoft.

I can see GRAW3 but ANOTHER Vegas? No, the second one was hardly a sequel at all. I know the term "blahblah 1.5" is cliched, but RSV2 was definitely just an expansion to the first game.

The First GRAW was on of the first true next gen games..the damn reflections in the buildings blew me away at the time..and the draw distance and scale of the city was mind blowing.

Hey Brad,
GRAW on PC wasn't 3rd person and is definitely slow paced and very tactical, with WAY more control over your squad. It actually feels like a Ghost Recon game, unlike the 360 version. You might like it.

Cheers

GRAW3 would be an instant-buy for me, I've been a fan of the series for longer then I can remember, I even have it for the original inbox ( though back then it was just GR ) :-)

@mistic - Hell yeah. I had it for the Xbox. I actually boiled the disc once because it quit working. Crazy thing is, totally fine now. I played it for a few years.

@Lemon - I would, but I only have a Macintosh. Thanks for the info though, I didn't know the PC version was like that!

I hope they bring back Rainbow Six to it's original title ways. I don't need another vegas, and I would totally love to see a newer version of the original ghost recon, not GRAW. I still think RS3 was the best made so far, anyone else?

I think Rainbow and GRAW are some of the best examples of squad based FPS today. While I agree that they shouldn't do another Vegas, they should definitely build on the Vegas engine IMO.

This should be awesome. For the past several years, some friends of mine and I have played nothing but "R6", "Ghost Recon", "R6V", and "R6V2" every Friday until the wee hours of the morning.

What would really sell it for me is to have all of the original levels from the prequels ported to the new version! I still have a soft spot for the space shuttle and 747 missions of the old R6 and would be thrilled to have those old maps available again. Yeah, Killhouse and Streets have stayed for each iteration, but some of the original levels were just awesome. I'd love to play them again with the R6V2 engine.

Hell, just make a map editor so that the fans can recreate them! One of the best things about the old R6 and GR was the plethora of user-created maps for them!
