Newbie Dtoider skyler just pointed out a whopper of a Matlocking. Last week, the DOJO surprised everyone by announcing that the Stickers would be able to power up characters on the Adventure mode. Some of the stickers would only work with certain characters though. What most people didn't notice from that update was that the certain characters that the stickers would work for are shown on the bottom of the screen.

Now here's where things get interesting. Last week, a video preview of Brawl was released on the Japanese Wii Web site. That preview though had been modified at some point so up until about an hour ago, the stickers segment showed Jigglypuff , Ness and a Pokemon known as Lucario as what we can only assume as playable characters in Brawl. Nintendo was quick to cover this up though and quickly replaced the video with the old one. And yes, I did see the icons with my own eyes. Of course, this is the Internet, so screen caps were taken of it too, as you can see above (With Jigglypuff and Lucario) and in the gallery below (with Ness). Until Nintendo and the DOJO officially confirm anything though, I'm slapping this with the Rumortoid. [Update: Here's the video in question. Fast forward to 4:20.]

Jigglypuff and Ness do make sense (and yes, I know I said he wouldn't be coming back ... shut up.) but another Pokemon sounds like over kill. Of course, if Brawl is really going to have 48 playable characters, then I guess it makes sense.

Proper credit goes out to Edible from the GameFAQs forums for this apparent Matlocking.

Glad to hear Ness may still be with it.

They should rename Brawl to KirbyPokemon Superstars. And I'm gonna join in the chorus and also say who the f is Lucario?

To be fair though.... Smash IS extremely popular in Japan, so I guess I'd see some characters I wouldn't immediately recognize!

NESS - This makes me so happy, he was my main player in 64 and melee

Who the hell is Lucario? One of the most badass things to happen to Pokemon, that's who.

Now all we need is Ridley, TP Ganondorf, and this game will official apex with my personal hype.

YAY! NESS FTW! But Lucario? meh... Jigglypuff is also kinda crap so please kick him/her/it?! out. Add Megaman, Ridley, Wolf, King K. Rool and confirm Captain Falcon, Luigi, Falco already.

I can understand Jigglypuff and Pikachu staying in the game, but adding in Lucario just seems weird.

Cool, a Pokemon actually meant for a fighting game, why do they still keep Jigglypuff???

Oh boy Wikipedia says Ness is in! It has to be right guys

Ness also appeared in Super Smash Bros. as a hidden character and Super Smash Bros. Melee as a starting character, and he will appear in Super Smash Bros Brawl as well.

That's one of the reasons why I'm not so happy with Pokemon Pearl (and Diamond). There's like, 8000 Pokemon. It was much easier to "Catch 'em all" when there was only 200.

Why is Ness such a big deal again that anything that could possibly herald his return warrants a front-page story?

Because he rocks more than Lucas.

How can anybody not want Jigglypuff? It's great for playing against inexperienced players and sending them straight into the sky.

Lucario is a fucking badass. He's wayyy cooler than Mewtwo.

The stickers are only used in Subspace Emissary...

Mewtwo might still be in, just as a villian, not playable in SSE.

Anybody who claims Jigglypuff sucks has obviously never played as him/her/it in SSBM. JIgglypuff's moveset has several strong attacks that can be used quickly to rack up combos, especially its aerial attacks. Not to metion Rest.

There is a reason why Jigglypuff is [i]the[i/] character that everyone recommends to use in Event Match 51.

NintenDawg: Actually, you might have a point. Dedede is listed on the Sticker Power-up update with Kirby and Meta-Knight to equip a sticker, but Dedede's not much of a villain, he's been known to ally with Kirby from time to time.
