According to the recent gossip, Namco Bandai has nabbed the brand new Splatterhouse game from developer Bottlerocket, effectively leaving the studio up sh*t creek without a paddle.
According to the story, Namco showed up at San Diego this Friday and took back the dev kit and all assets for the nearly completed game. The studio allegedly got its last paycheck on Friday for what is/was its only current project. If the rumors are true, Splatterhouse will finished in-house by the same team that developed Afro Samurai.
Members of the Afro Samurai team were already working with Bottlerocket to complete Splatterhouse, and it is alleged that it was not a particularly friendly relationship. Another huge slap in the face is the fact that the potentially new development team is based in Carslbad along with Bottlerocket, and may even be leasing the jilted studio's building. Namco recruiters may also have been attempting to poach a few Bottlerocket staffers as well.
If true, this looks like a rather cruel state of affairs for Bottlerocket, and the reasoning for yanking back the game and cutting the developer's legs off is a mystery. Nobody is currently speaking on this issue, and there's no clue as to what this means for Splatterhouse.
Maybe Bottlerocket hadn't planned for some really sh*tty DLC? I know Scamco Bandai would be upset about that.

Meet the rest of the team
well... Afro doesnt even come close to the 3rd person action slasher standard set by the older generation... its repetitive... (According to the reviews)
so I guess splatterhouse is going to be more of repetitiveness... will rent it if it has easy trophies...
I think that this looks alright, The Arcade version had some very gory stages and scenes.. looking at the level designs, I dunno if they gored up the scenery enough.. but, I really thirst for another gore soaked game that Splatterhouse was. Lets hope this rehash will be a decent one..
(The first Splatterhouse arcade version's first level had rotting and mutilated bodies everywhere on the first level... There was a ton missing in the TG-16 version, but it did retain the gameplay...) Hopefully, they stuck with what they did in the arcade.. a brutal ass game. I'm just afraid they are going to tone the gore/brutality down.. but >shrug<
am I the only one that thinks the new one looks kinda crappy, there were a few good shots in the vid but a lot of the levels look really empty and kind of sub-par
Shamco Scamdai are nasty parasites. Anything for a buck, even if it means pssing off consumers or shitting on your dev teams. This move should surprise no-one. The only thing that would shock me is if this rumor turns out to be false.
AFRO Samurai is awesome. I have no idea why there are so many complaints about it. I guess its just this generation and how all you kiddies had mommies and no daddies, or maybe your daddies didn't spank you, or maybe you discovered acid a little too early, or maybe you're just a spoiled brat that thinks cell phones and the internet have been around forever.

Man - this is a bit disappointing. Based on the interviews & such I'd seen with the BR team, I was really looking forward to seeing what they produced from the Splatterhouse IP. Now, having seen team NB's work on Afro Samurai... I'm not so interested any more. Here's hoping I'm wrong.
The video's middle-of-the-road for me. It doesn't dash my hopes, nor does it over-stimulate my salivary glands. Wait and see is still the rule of the day thusfar.

Thank you.
Or maybe Afro Samurai isn't shit and I'm just putting way too much faith in reviews. Splatterhouse looked great, I hope this won't fuck anything up.
