A huge wad of rumors surrounding Sony is here to kick off GDC week. We don't know how much of it is true or what we'll see at the conference, but we're a blog, and rumors were made for the blogging. Since you just want the meat of the matter, here's a nice fat list of Sony rumors for you to chew over:
- New PSP Slide to be shown at E3 for release next year
- The current PSP moderl will get a price cut, reduced to $119
- Fumito Ueda will be at GDC to announce two games, one of which is Shadow of the Colossus Online
- Syphon Filter is readying for PS3 and will use the Killzone 2 engine
- Insomniac is working on a new action RPG that looks rather Zelda-ish
- Jak 4 is also on the cards
- ... and Daxter 2, which is due to launch in time for the new PSP
- Legend of Dragoon remake is in development, due to release this year
Them's a lot of hot rumortoids, I think. I'm not going to shout at Sony again over the release of yet another PSP, but I will certainly pay close heed to what Ueda has to say at GDC.
Shadow of the Colossus Online sounds insane, but who knows? Stranger things have happened.

As for Shadow of the Colossus Online, I would prefer they left this game alone and not make any type of sequal, or spin-off game. If anything they could remake it with a shiny new set of PS3 graphics and better controls, but that's it.
Jak 2 and 3 are too great not to get the PS3 treatment.
Jak 3 with the Uncharted engine would be AWESOME!
(I remember some leaked (?) footage, showing some never-before seen footage, with Daxter wearing pants (which means it's set after Jak 3).
So it's quite plausible.
COME ON NAUGHTY DOG!!
....PSP Slide. Cool.
Plus, more Shadow of the Colossus is always good. I would be perfectly happy with a remake for the PS3 in HD!
@Golden Avatar - Sure the game has some flaws but the battle system is really fun.
Legend of Dragoon remake is in development, due to release this year
SOTC online? kinda like monster hunter? multiple people trying to take down huge monsters? i like the idea, but will it work?
"...or if you have no idea of their credibility..."
Yes, that's what separates "facts" from "rumors." Or did you not know what a rumor was?
Shadow of the Colossus Online sounds... iffy. How about we get a proper entry in the "series?" Unless if it's an Online game that incorporates aspects of SotC but isn't outright SotC-related, but named as such because of its likeness TO SotC. Yes yes, lots of pondering to take place from now until forever.
Some new PSP -> PS3 connectivity would be awesome with the new one. Looking forward to the New Monster Hunter online-via-PS3 malarky.
As long as Sony keep on releasing the triple AAA PS3 titles i'ma be a happy bunny.
The bestest news would be Monster Hunter 3 going back to PS3 instead of the Wii. - We can wish I suppose.
PS3 - proving it's value every single day.
"Hmm, Chance of war more likely. I hope it's just a rumor."
What the fuck is that supposed to mean!? People don't talk like that! They don't just say "Chance of war more likely" to themseleves. This games turd of a script ruined it for me
*shudders*
That being said, I'd welcome a remake/sequel with open arms. This system needs its own traditional JRPG. I'd buy it in a heartbeat. I'm sure it'll be rescripted too.
But okay, Shadow of the Colossus online? That sounds kinda weak if you ask me, I almost hope it isnt true. SotC is one of my favorite games ever... and the desolate isolation and feeling of being alone is what helped make the game feel so good. An online version of the game? eh..
I'd rather have a true sequel where you play as the princess (since she is revived at the end of the game) and try to save the wanderer from the first game.
Of course this type of behavior is pretty standard fare these days. Get out the buckets boys! We're milking another franchise!
Please! Jak 2 is one of my all-time favourite games.
SOTC Online with armes of dudes trying to stop the one guy attacking the colossi? Could be interesting.
SOTC Online where Argo, The Collossi, Wander and an army of dues trying to stop Wander are all played by real people? priceless
Cheap competitive multiplayer game that uses the original SOTC world. * players get in and take on the Colossi of their choosing. Colossi are a little bit easier, travel is a little faster, kill stealing is totally alowed. After 30 minutes/an hour the players convene at the temple, and get powers based on what Colossi they took down.
They then duke it out, Castle Crasher's style, destroying the temple in the process...

God i hope they come through with this.
Throwing thousands of players into a "forbidden land" a) doesn't make it very forbidden and b) destroys the atmosphere.
Creating thouasands of instanced colossi would ruin the majesty of each one they originally crafted and would make them generic.
I will vomit out my soul if they make this.
Also, I like how people see Shadow of the Colossus Online, and then just imagine the first one but with lots of people walking around. You have to guess that some of the mechanics have been altered. That's the exciting part. How have they built off the original idea to form a multiplayer game? It's a very interesting thing to think about. It's more fun to optimistically imagine where they will go with it than to do the same from a pessimist's perspective.
With current gen tech, they could make a phenomenal game.
I doubt very much that any of those are ever likely to happen. It's a shame too since a few of them sound like nice ideas.
and
LEGEND OF DRAGOON OMGWTFBBQ!!!!1!
That was exactly what I was gonna say about SOTC Online. ICO's sequel (called NICO) was going to be like that (Cooperative online battles against Colossus). The idea isn't bad at all, I just'd like it to be a spin-off, because the plot of the ICO-SOTC universe is so damn beautiful that I don't see how can the SOTCOnline be linked to the first two games.
-Yay for price cuts on anything!
-Anything Shadow of the Colossus related gives me insta-wood, so thank you Mr. Ueda.
-I loved Syphon Filter 1 and 2, so if they can retain what made those great, I'm totally pumped.
-Insomniac Games is a good developer, so I'd love to see what a Zelda-ish project by them could be like.
-Another Jak entry would be great. No more Jak Racing please.
-Daxter 2 would be cool too.
-Legend of Dragoon remake is probably the most exciting rumor on the list. I thought that the original was AWESOME.
Yay for Rumortoid!!
...not sure if want.
A Man can dream.
Maybe.
