Rumortoid: SCEE reminds staff of their NDA after PS3 price drop talk photo

Last week we told you about a possible leak from SCEE's annual staff meeting, where SCEE President David Reeves supposedly told his staff that they would become more competitive with pricing starting in March 2009. Since then, we've had our fingers crossed for a PS3 price drop.

According to VG247 and their unnamed source, Reeves sent out an email SCEE staff today reminding them that a non-disclosure agreement was built into their contracts. In other words, he said shut up and quit talking about that. What's funny is that this employee broke their NDA by sharing the email!

No one has a copy of this letter, so we'll mark it as a rumor. If true, though, this could be more evidence that points to a PS3 price drop.

I'm waiting for the numerous naughty spankings people will get for tattle-telling over at SCEE.

They are probably banking on people spending more over the holiday and drop prices once holiday craziness passes. Lots of companies do it so it shouldn't be a suprise.

Considering the the XB360 and Wii are kicking the PS3's ass right now in sales, you'd think that Sony would do a price drop ASAP. Blu-ray aside, when someone is looking at a $399 PS3 vs. a $299 XB360 Pro or $249 Wii, it's pretty obviously why PS3 is trailing. Sony would be stupid to wait until March to drop prices.

@Brainderailment

So true and your comment is a great example. It was worth 2 cents and it is now worth 1 cent.

@brainderailment Fitting name, but let me rub these two brain cells together for you. Indeed everyone does know everything eventually drops in price but no one knows when. This knowledge would prevent savvy shoppers to wait till March, hurting 2008 sales. Aka why buy one on Christmas when you can wait a few months?

Probably they've already worked the number losing 2008 to Xbox360. They are planning on making enough money to cover their margins for 2008 and leaning on 2009 to pick up enough sales to beat Xbox360, through titles. Despite PS3 picking up it's gaming it hasn't smashed the competition as of yet.

The price drop appears to coincide with Killzone 2. Imagine a low price drop bundle with the Killzone 2 game.

These marketing plans help ALL companies look better for investors who keep the company running. Without investors every company would quickly be bought out or bankrupt fast.

Ya no one ever believes a rumor. Remember 9-11? The war maybe? No, no one ever basis their judgment on rumors, especially important decisions. What the hell am I thinking?
