Rumortoid-San: Wii emits a frequency that attracts cockroaches? photo

So far this is just a theory, but it's something that's beginning to come under investigation. Apparently, Japanese entertainment magazine BARKS has alleged that a powered-on Wii emits a sound frequency which falls right into the range to which cockroaches are attracted. This could lend itself to a few uninvited roommates for gamers who are too busy waggling their remotes to invest some time in a little basic housekeeping.

I wouldn't run to the store and drop a week's pay on insecticide just yet, and please keep in mind that this is just a theory, and one that is likely to be debunked eventually. Although, if you find yourself trying out that new Wii Fit Board and hear some crunching under it as you lean one way or the other, don't say I didn't warn you.

Don't know about the bugs but the wii in my house just seems to attract dust from non use.

Roaches don't have ears. Maybe it is just the way it looks.

Total BS. I've had a Wii since launch, and not ONCE have I seen a roach anywhere in my room. The house, yes, but this is Texas and roaches/waterbugs are common here. And I play my Wii far more than most "hardcore" gamers.

This is just more stuff generated by haters desperately trying to rag on the Wii, I bet.

News flash!
For over 2 decades I have either worked as a telephone, and Data tech or owned a company thats a Cisco. 3Com, Avaya certified just to name a few. I say this so you understand I am not some 13 year voicing an opinion. in the last 28 years I have opened countless telephones, and yes even Cisco routers loaded with cockroaches. As a matter of fact many appliances that have heat generated from internal power supplies and electronics that provide a warm enclosure can attract cockroaches. But there as to be roaches present in the first place. Many times people have alleged that someone a telephone or router and many other appliances somehow are the Pied Piper of roaches because they are humiliated by the fact that a repairman/tech opened the unit and found literally hundreds of baby cockroaches. These units are the Perfect incubator for laying eggs. Sometimes common sense doesn't make a cool story, but it's often the truth.
I seriously doubt that the Wii attracts anything but the ire of Xbox or PS3 users. Yes I am a Xbox player with 3 Xbox's and a 24 port Gigabit Lan for others to come and LAN party. I have no love of the Wii it's not my thing, but I won't try and discredit it with a story that borders on idiocy.

You have to have cockroaches first, get over it and clean your damn house and quit blaming others for your being a pig.

I live in an apartment complex that's had several roach problems. It's only anecdotal evidence, but my specific unit never had roaches until I got a Wii and they went away about a month after I got rid of it (swapped for 360). Personally I'd live with the roaches if it could compare to the 360 or PS3.

Wow...suddenly, I'm feeling nervous using my Wii in my dorm. At the meeting at the beginning of the year, they already warned us about possible cockroaches, and while I haven't seen any, now my Wii might attract them. Fun fact: don't step on cockroaches, because a) they release an odor that attracts more, and b) they could leave eggs on your shoes that get ground into your rug and hatch more. Truly, they are nature's zerg.

It's actually a hypothesis. It would have to withstand significant scrutiny to be a theory.

After leaving my Wii on for about a week without playing it, I found a bunch of spiders living right outside the fan. There weren't any on my Xbox which was right next to it. Maybe bugs just like the Wii.

I think we have ourselves something to attract the cockroaches, all we need is something to kill the roaches with... this could actually help Nintendo if this is true.

Wii emits a frequency that attracts old people and gamers who are easily fooled into playing last gen games with a stick.
