Rumortoid: Rock Revolution setlist leaked? photo

I happened to be present at the unveiling of Rock Revolution at this year's E3, and my partner-in-crime Dale North can attest that we (as usual) shared the same opinion of the upcoming rhythm title: not so impressed. From the Fisher Price look of the drums to the utter failure of the stage demonstration during the Konami press conference, it just kind of looked like a train wreck waiting to happen.

Kotaku posted what may be the full setlist for the upcoming game from an "anonymous tipster" who forwarded an official Konami product availability email over this morning. Check after the jump to see the full song list. I have to admit, there's some great stuff in here, including some good old fashioned metal, which I've been wanting to see for a long time. Unfortunately, the game will feature no master tracks.

I can't say that these songs will convince me to trade in my beloved Rock Band drumkit (or hopes of soon owning the ION Drum Rocker), but I'm sure a lot of people will be more interested in the game after seeing what is in store.

In the meantime, the always-tactful Dtoid staff will continue to lob ideas about the office about the best RR parody name we can come up with. I liked Rock Poopalution best, but I'm guessing it won't sell as well as Jim Sterling's version, Cock Ejaculation.

Rock Too-Little-Too-Late?

I was aware of most of these songs a few months ago, before E3-- Didn't EGM post the majority of the setlist in an article about this game?

Also, it's a shame that Konami helped create this genre, yet can't compete with their adversaries any longer. Well, that's how I see it, at least.

Terrible songs with terrible covers.

A lot of those songs I've already played on previous music games, a lot of those songs are shitty, and any of the decent songs that I would love to play (Spirit of Radio) are going to be covers anyways so what's the point?

Also, this game looks like ass.

ARRRRG.

DAMNIT TRENT. YOU ARE NOT CONTROLLED BY THE SYSTEM ANYMORE.

LICENSE OUT MORE SONGS DAMNIT.

Oh wait, not Rock Band 2.

Still, no Nine Inch Nails = sadface, extreme in this case, though I give props for End Of A Heartache.

Best part of Resident Evil 2.

Well...it's an improvement. But I have an idea: Toss out all the fuckin' songs that have been in other fuckin' rock games and then come ask me what they need to be replaced with.

I thought this game might be good since it's from Konami.

Then I played it at Comic-Con and it sucked ass.

Then I saw Killswitch Engage and Lacuna Coil on the setlist...total fap.

Then I remembered everything is supposed to be covers.

Fuck this fucking fail of a game!

this is just a drum and guitar game right?
might be sold on buying the game disc-only if it had vocals.

Doesn't have vocals; therefore, it means nothing to me. Come to think of it, Konami still cranks out those Karaoke Revolution games- what's stopping them from making a full-blown Rock Band rip-off?

Konami = fail.

It's like at school when everyone got rollerblades. Everyone had fun with them, then got sick of them, and put them in a closet. Then 5 months later that nerdy little shit nobody speaks to goes 'hay guys, I got some rolla blades from the 99c store! Lets go shred!". It's just like...no you little fuck, just stop it.

@ Matthew Blake: Harmonix actually developed the first few Karaoke Revolution games. I think Blitz Games took over when they started doing the American Idol tie-ins.

This supporting compatibility with other peripherals from GH and RB?

Except for Ms. Lavigne and the duplicated songs from RB, that's a great setlist. Or at least it would be, if they weren't all covers. While I'll pick up GH:WTF eventually, I guess I'll have to pass on Cock Ejaculation. Covers are so Guitar Hero 1.

Must agree directly with Necros; do want GH:WTF, do not want Cock Ejaculation (and that is most likely the first time). If I wanted to play a cover I would learn how to play it myself, dammit.

Slightly off topic, but I think this is the first time I've ever really looked at the Rock Revolution drums and to be honest, as someone who has played drums before, they look to be the most natural for real drummers to play. If it had better songs (and was cheaper than Rock Band here in europe) I'd actually prefer to play these than Rock Bands. I mean, I understand that they look complicated from a laymans POV, but just from seeing them, my bet is that once you are used to them they are far better than Rock bands.

Setlist looks ok. But Rock Revolution just looks so generic and so..bland that I'm not too thrilled at all

I see no reason to play this whatsoever. I believe Rock Band and Guitar Hero have pretty well consumed this genre, and Rock Revolution seems to offer nothing unique other than a different drum setup. Really, why did they even make this game?

Wait, wait, wait. They picked "Am I Evil?" for their Metallica song of choice? Are you fucking kidding? The only song with less lyrics in it that isn't an instrumental is "I Disappear". You could write the entire lyric sheet for both songs down on a post-it note. Both are also completely forgettable. When somebody walks up to you and says "Do you like Metallica?" and you reply "Sure, they're pretty good." what song first comes to mind? "Enter Sandman"? "Master of Puppets"? Because I'm willing to bet it sure as fuck isn't "Am I Evil?". My palm, it connects with my forehead.
