Rumortoid: Resident Evil 5: Director's Cut is coming photo

Resident Evil 5: Director’s Cut might be a thing that is happening now. Speaking in a recent video interview, the voice of Jill Valentine, Patricia Ja Lee, confirmed that a new edition of the horror/action game is coming. She also said it would involve Valentine, which seems sort of obvious, but we talking Resident Evil 5 here. It’s a game that has tentacle monsters, zombies, and viruses. We wouldn’t be surprised if Lee was hired to voice an internal organ with legs and a chainsaw.

“So, I guess the news is already out, but I did a voice over last week for the Director’s Cut that’s coming out for Resident Evil 5,” she says. “And I guess it’s obvious at this point that it’s going to be … at least, somewhat, involving Jill Valentine. I look forward to it. [There are] some good scenes.”

We’re filing this under “rumor” for now because Lee might have been mistaken. This could be downloadable content or something along those lines. We’re in the process of getting confirmation now, so we’ll let you know when we do.

Maybe like a "Seperate Ways" like in RE4, up until she got captured.

I like the idea of Jill getting her own mini-story mode, like "Separate Ways" in RE4. If that's the case, I hope Capcom just discontinues the regular edition and offers the new stuff as DLC.

If this is true, sign me up. RE 5 might not have been as good as we were all hoping, but it was still a fun time. Maybe a new version with some extras could bump it up closer to RE 4.

Could be exclusive content for a Wii-downport, like how the PS2 downport of RE4 got some (at the time) exclusive stuff.

I was going to ask "why?" but then I remembered how many versions of Resident Evil 4 there were. This time, though, I'm fairly certain that I won't be grabbing this. I think I'm one of the few people who played it enough to get every single unlockable item and achievement, including the Versus achievements, for a total of 1200/1200. I enjoyed it, but there is pretty much no reason for me to pick it up again for many years after doing everything possible in the game. So unless this is released as DLC, count me out.

The graphics for the PS2 port were slightly worse than the GC version (but still gorgeous at the time), but all the extra goodies that were added in completely made it worth buying RE4 again. Capcom, PLEASE make the new version of RE5 at least as feature packed as RE4 was when it was ported.

Capcom, how about you release RE5 with actually gory deaths, not something that's broadcast early morning on the disney channel?
Seriously, the entire game felt tame which removed the sense of danger and ruined the atmosphere. I had the game a week early and still haven't finished it.

I am game. I enjoyed the game so much that if they re-release it with considerable added content then I will definitely buy it. Probably not a first day purchase though...

Damn it what I really wanted out of Resident Evil 5 was more Jill - and now they're actually going to deliver it? Honestly that game wasn't particularly good this will probably be too little too late.

It's great to see that my favourite character is still getting some attention. The first time I saw that headstone reading "Jill Valentine" I was like "Fuck it. I'm done Capcom. I'm just done."

Maybe they'll change the shooting controls to a more mainstream style with the update....... More likely is a Jill version of Seperate Ways, but I'm hoping there's a separate story part for sheva. Either that or put ada in there, things can only get better when she's there.

Yea, I suppose he's right about the "port" terminology (as in graphics), but the PS2 version was practically a whole extra game.

If this director's cut equals not mandatory co-op play, I'm in. Otherwise, F Capcom. I have bought systems just to play RE games in the past and this is the first one I ever passed up on. Way to blow it, douchebags.

Sorry. I'm a little drunk.

BUT that does not invalidate my feelings!

RE5 was so dissapointed for me. I got it with the red console pack and struggle to finish. Such a failure... Capcom went so mainstream that lost his spirit, and soon after the release the incredible key-dlc for multiplayer... Shame on them.

I really hope this is DLC. It might not be much of a "Resident Evil" game, but what RE5 is sure is a lot of fun and I'd love to get some more of that action, but I'd rather not have to buy another disc at full price. A $10-20 DLC pack (depending on how much content is in there) with a "Director's Cut" retail release replacing the original disc would be great.

What I would pay full price for is a remake of Resident Evil Zero using the RE5 engine and incorporating its co-op gameplay.

If it's totally new content I hope they release it as DLC too if it's good and whatnot.
