Hahaha, oh man. Capcom loves to re-release Resident Evil games almost to the point of self parody, and shows no signs of stopping now, if rumors are to be believed. According to a poster at The Horror, Resident Evil 4: Classic Edition could be hitting the Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles before long.
According to the sketchy details, the game would feature series obscurity Hunk more than ever before, possibly giving him his own scenario in a manner similar to Ada Wong's sub-plot on the PS2/PC/Wii version of the game.
At the moment this is pure rumor, but given Capcom's fetish for porting Resident Evil games, and the fact that Xbox owners have thus far gone without a version of Resident Evil 4, it's not far at all from the realm of believability. When it comes to Capcom and Resi, rumors of them NOT working on a port seem far less likely.
We shall see, though. April Fool's Day is right around the corner, after all.
[Update: The rumor has been quasi-shot down, though not completely. Capcom says there are "no current plans" but we are free to "believe what [we] will." -- Thanks for the tip, Power-Glove]
.. but I like it! :D
Resi4 in 1080p in my living room? Sweetness!
Resident Evil 4: Still No Anti-Aliasing
Seriously, if this comes out for both of these consoles, and either version isn't anti-aliased, then there's really something wrong. RE4 looks lood when you consider the consoles that it's on right now, but the lack of anti-aliasing really kills the overall look.
"I appreciate the passion that the community has for RE (especially for RE4). That said, I hate seeing people's expectations raised in some unwarranted fashion (and inevitably, I'm sure the Internet will spin it as something we've officially announced and subsequently delayed or cancelled when it doesn't show up ).
I'll stand by the third post I made in this thread. There are no current plans.
But if it makes you all happy, believe what you will.
I smell April fools somewhere.
On the topic of release schedule, Takeuchi has hinted at 2009 at the earliest in past interviews with Famitsu. In light of that statement (and other information I have) I have come out and said that 2008 was unlikely in that SG thread as listed. We have never even officially given a launch year much less month or quarter. Lost is completely correct so please stop badgering him (and Lost, stop taunting the fans). Anything you may have seen is conjecture or rumor."

Seriously though, I beat RE4 like, 3 times on the Gamecube and still wouldn't mind giving it another go, especially when there's new content to be had.
Translation: "We weren't planning on it, but that's a pretty good idea! Of course we'll say we were working on it all along!"
But it would be tempting if they released it with updated textures and 1080p resolution. And of course, new content!
How many times are people going to play the same game, Jimbo?
As many times as Capcom says to. It'll be a good way to get back into the flow for RE5, whenever that glorious day comes.
OH yeah: Achievements.
Anywho, I already paid and played this on the PS2. And, although I loved it, I'm not willing to spend more money on what will account for a few hours of new content (which you likely can't access from the get-go anyway).
Will it be worth a rental? Absolutely. Seeing that game world, brought to life in HD glory will be truly stunning. But becoming a consumer whore for a company that takes advantage of its customers by pulling shit like this every few years? Count me out. Sorry, but I happen to have self control. Clearly some people on here don't. Poor bastards.
Another 'blurry-to-cover-up-the-photoshop' picture to send a wave of rumors across the internet.
If this were real, how hard would it have been to take one decent, non-blurry picture of the games?
It's not a big deal if it is ported, just another chance to play it if you want to.
I love ports of classic games to new systems, especially if I didn't have the old system.
I'm not sure if RE4 is a "classic" but there are enough people who claim it is to justify it, and well...many critics say the RE4 Wii port had the best control scheme yet and was well worth it?
Updating classic games with better graphics, control schemes, new extras content rather than releasing crappy derivitave games or shovelware that's coming out for all three consoles lately? Sign me up.
However This :
...or something that looks like would NOT be a good cover.
PS: I made that cover to see it with out the all shaking.(it's not 100% what's in the picture but close enough)
I know ports are often inferior or feature segments which still quote the console controls but RE4 PC was THE biggest piece of shit. At release the bastards were so lazy that instead of adapting the game to use the shaders/lighting effects of DirectX they just disabled the games effects entirely, leaving PC owners with a washed out version of the game inferior in appearance to the PS2 release.
It was a long long time and many thousands of complaints before they released a patch for it.
Oh and there was no mouse support either and various other screw ups.
