Writing this up, I feel like one of those bloggers from those scummy bottom-feeding game blogs that just makes sh*t up for pageviews. You know the type: SEGA Revived, Creating Shemune/Final Fantasy/Knight Rider Hybrid MMO. I would point fingers, but that's put me in the hot seat in the past.
PC World links to what looks to be some early PS4 details. Apparently, these rough details were sent to developers, with Sony looking for feedback. These plans say that Sony may be taking a page for Nintendo's play book, with the company looking to lower manufacturing costs for the PS4, focusing on "doubling" the power of the PS3. They will still rock the Cell processor, but the size will be diminished and the power level boosted through magic and science.
According to Japanese site Watch Impress, we're looking at a 2011 release date.
I'm still waiting for more games for my PS3 library.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
where have have i seen that before.
O h ya the wii!!!
Man sony has ther thinkin caps on there.

What do you think we should do with this hardware this hardware that we spent billions on and lost even more and only performs well on paper?
I know !Lets just shink it and make it faster.. like intel and AMD does with most of there PC CPU that run the exact same code!" it will be like crappy laptops people upgrade but it really ends up doing the same thing but faster!

Nice job sony you are copying the PC market in higher clock speed but upgrades well these days.
I mean it is working for nintendo.
Hell maybe like the PC market you might change the way your hardware works every so often and not just give clock speed updates.
and the best part console boys will think they are getting a "new console" and they can keep the clock speed updates going until ps6!
Dream big sony, dream big.
Incidentally, Gametrailers has an interesting discussion about the future of gaming. A lot of industry analysts are predicting that we won't have a PS4 or an Xbox 720 in the traditional sense, that gaming will transcend the previous notion of having a newer, better console every four years.
Both Sony and MicroSoft have learned a valuable lesson from the Wii. And the lesson is that the rest of the household like women, children and old people like simple party games.
So I think next generation we will see 4 systems from both sony and MS. 2 systems are going to be 'party' systems like the wii. and 2 systems would be true next gen consoles with all the bells and whistles that you expect from a powerful system.

This past week has been the 1st time I've turned on my PS3 in months.....WIPEOUT HD (which crashes my PS3 ever 30 minutes it seems)...and IRON MAN on Blu-Ray.
THen it will be turned off until LBP is released.
The PS4 isn't coming out in 2016, people. Don't be silly.
Anyway, I'd say it's too soon to be talking PS4. It'll probably launch in 2011-2013 considering how badly the PS3 is doing now.
it's a toaster.
It will evolve...
I guess there will be many copies.
And they will have plan...
I'm pretty sure all the next consoles will launch between 2011-2013. The last console cycle only lasted about 4-5 years. The current gen is only almost 2 years-old and people are already coming up with rumours like this.
Motherf'ing WORD.
I notice that the PS4 above has red ringed already, and it is only running at half power. Thermal paste time. Do they ever learn?
seconded.
No, It'll be 2 Ps2s taped together. That way it adds up.
The PS3 has been around for almost 2 years now, and people are still creating and buying games for the PS2. So 2011 sounds about right, because the PS3 will have improved longevity over PS2, being, as it is, a BD player and media center
also balls......
