IGN isn't always right, but more than often they're a great place to read old gaming news. The big rumor that surfaced today involves an angry wolf and a Wiimote: Okami might be making its way to the Wii, perhaps buckling after months and months of gamers pleading for it on every public forum on the Internet.
... a reliable industry insider unaffiliated with Capcom told us that the company is seriously considering creating a Wii version and may even be working on it as we speak. However, when we asked Capcom UK for confirmation of Okami's move to Wii we got this response: "Officially we have no plans for Okami on Wii at this time. Research and development are always looking at possibilities but given Clover is now closed for business, I think it highly unlikely a Wii version would be possible."
So there you have it - officially it's not happening but it's by no means a flat-out denial. And even with the closure of Clover Studios it wouldn't be that difficult for a team to port it across, particularly when you consider a lot of Clover staffers are likely to head over to Capcom once the studio finally shuts its doors next month.
Okami is often compared to last-gen sequels of Zelda, so the Wii install base does seem to fit as the ideal platform-shopping audience. Considering the drought of non-casual games on the Wii, this could be a much welcomed port.
Let's open that up for discussion: Would you buy Okami for the Wii?

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
That anthropomorphic Ammy you put up alongside the post? HOLY FUCK NO.
agh furries agh die furries die plz die
I would like the play Okami in 480p though. I have no idea why the game didn't support progressive scan.
and please, people - how many wolves have to die? Help stop the slaughter. Kill furries instead
This would be a very good move for Capcom
but yeah, hands down best adventure game on the ps2, i'd gladly play it again!
Would I buy Okami on the Wii? Hell fuck yes I would! Capcom would be foolish not to at the very least start seriously considering such a move.
Painting w/ analog sticks = Pain in the ass.
Painting w/ Wiimote = Pure, unadulterated awesome.
Hrn.
FUCKKKKKK
MY EYES
NOOOOOOOOOO
*head explodes*
When's the new blog board debuting? You're dropping hints about it all the time, apparently.
I nominate to call it "Furrocious".
If you look at the eyes closely, you can see the soul of the person on the left slowly dying a virgin death.
.. I already have it for PS2 >_>
Hell yes i would buy it!
Oh and Niero, keep your Furry porn under your bed where you keep that Zip-loc bag you collect your semen and toe-nail clippings in, and off Destructoid. :P
Too bad if they make an Okami 2, it'll be made by Capcom's standard teams and likely have none of the special feeling the first had. Best to let it go down quietly then drag it out with painfully bad sequels.
The reason why you should consider buying Okami if it came out on Wii is that the controls would give you a different experience, or so I would hope.
However, if i didn't have the PS2 version and had a wii, then i would definatly consider it... though i would be a bit questionable about the use of the wiimote is with the game; depends on how sesitive it is with the game... if it's too sesitve than it could end up being difficult to draw with.
