According to French site Gamekyo, Nintendo is set to announce a game “everyone is waiting for” at its upcoming press conference this Thursday.
Before Nintendo’s almost disastrous E3 2008 showing, hearing something like this would send gamers into an excited tizzy. Sadly, things are a little different now. While discussing this rumor this morning in the Destructoid office, terms like “dogsh*t” and “motion controlled county fair simulator” were thrown around. Has it finally happened? Have gamers lost all faith in good ol’ Nintendo?
Call me an annoying Positive Polly, but I still have hope that Nintendo can deliver the goods. Looking closer at the rumor, the game will apparently be a continuation of an older franchise. Could it be the long-rumored Kid Icarus Wii? That’s my very confident guess. And to all the naysayers: it’s been less than a year since Nintendo released arguably the best game in the Mario franchise, Super Mario Galaxy. It is going to take a lot more than a matter of months for me to think Nintendo has given up on us.
So, the big question is: Do you think this rumor is true? And, if so, what game will be announced? I am very curious on your thoughts, so speak up! Are you confident Nintendo will deliver and make hardcore gamers happy? Or are you readying yourself for Wii Watching Paint Dry?

It's also too bad that Nintendo lacks the creativity nowadays to come up with something truly original. I don't want to play Super Waggle Mario 500, I love Mario games but fuck... enough already.
The lame thing is, is that everyone in these comments is saying, well what about this game or that game.... but they are all games that have all been done before... that is not something to look forward to. This is the raping of your nostalgic side.
The Wii is a damn fad. Nintendo treats it as such. Face it.
Nintendo, the company, never officially announced Pikmin. Miyamoto did, saying that Pikmin was in development. This happened at a roundtable discussion. But right after that Nintendo put a gag-order on him :S. So it could go either way.
Anyway, I'm with you Chad, people are fucked up, Nintendo will still make great games!
And of course, I agree with you, SMG is the best platformer I've ever played.
Big N's Plan? Cash in on the casual music game scene, get some more Phoenix Wright/Trauma Center/Happy Go Japanese Time Touchy Screen Whatever games on the DS, release a Kid Icarus game that will be like Brawl without all the other characters, and rub one out on your pillow while you are gone.

Yeah look at the over 32 million selling fad everyone. Its two years later, and people still can't find them readily available in stores, but the Wii is just a fad. We swear by this time next year Nintendo won't be able to give the Wii away. How freaking delusional can people be? Give the whole fad thing a fucking rest already as it was proven not to be a fad long ago!
Even if I highly doubt that a new Luigi's Mansion would be announced, I would be incredibly excited about it seeing how I was a huge fan of the original.
Probably just Pikmin. Meh from me if it is.
