Rumortoid: New Secret of Monkey Island coming to Xbox 360? photo

Do you like Monkey Island? Of course you bloody do! If adventure games are your jam, then pay heed to this juicy slice of gossip that hints at a possible return of Secret of Monkey Island, with hints that the famous LucasArts title could be coming to the Xbox 360.

Germany's USK rating board listed a Special Edition of the game yesterday, noting the game's platform, which leads one to believe that this could be a total revamp of the game. Naturally, the official sources have remained tight-lipped, with LucasArts European distributor and evil publisher Activision claiming that it won't comment on "rumor and speculation."

Does this sound hot to you? It sounds bloody hot to me.

As long as it's not a new game/exclusive to the 360, I'm fine. But a new game exclusive to the 360...would suck for those of us without one :V

Please, for the love of all that's good and holy, make this happen. If a fansite can get Dominic Armato (the voice of Guybrush) to do an elaborate April Fool's joke, I'm sure they could round him up to do VO for a special edition of this game. I would spend large amounts of Space Banana Moon Mountain money for this.

I don't have a bloody 360, and for Monkey Island, I would buy one. o_0

Bah! It'll probably show up on GoG or Steam sometime. And NO, I'm NOT bitter about not yet hearing if this is coming to the PSN. No, siree.

This would be good news if LucasArts still made good games. Please don't resurrect anymore timeless classics and bastardize the crap out of them, ok?

Not sure if the controls would be perfect on the 360, but this is one of my favorite games of all time. A graphical upgrade and voice-over additions to this game would instantly sell me. I do wonder if it would work better on the wii though considering strong bad and sam and max work decently well on the wii. Definitely keeping my eye on this rumor.

This better be a) a reworking of the original with totally redone art and b) not 360 exclusive.

If it's just a port of the original version, I don't see why they wouldn't package Secret of Monkey Island and Lechuck's revenge in together, given their size (if not the other games too).

I wonder if they'll leave the "Ask me about Loom" guy in the game. That would be awesome if they did AND Loom was actually subsequently coming out in remade fashion. Oh the possibilities...

I'll put in the single vote for bringing Lucasarts games to Wii then. On a disc or through the internets, either'd be fine.

Can't help but shake the feeling that they would somehow brake it and make it...kinda not good.

Everyone loves the originals, leave it at that. Don't "reboot the series" into a MMO FPS with unlockable Captain Jack Sparrow playable character to try and appeal to the yoof of today. If anyone hasn't played these games, it's not for lack of availiablity, and they should just bloody well go and play them. Shit, with ScummVM you can play them on the DS!

Also, the semi-3d one was wank. So, don't repeat thoes mistakes.

I guess I was the only one who really liked Curse and Escape. Sure, the first two were classics, but the series didn't suck once Tim Schafer and Ron Gilbert left. Come on, Dominic Armato is wonderful!
