Rumortoid: New Mass Effect DLC on the way? photo

Say what you will about Twitter, but you can't beat it when it comes to instant gratification. For example, this morning, BioWare updated their Twitter with this interesting message:

Getting the feeling some news about the next ME1 DLC may be coming this week. Keep your eyes peeled.

I post this for your eyes as a rumor, but that seems pretty suggestive to me. In other words, while you wait for Mass Effect 2, some more good play time with the first game may be coming your way sooner than you think. I hate to admit it, but I never got around to completing the first game, so I feel like I should do so before I consider any DLC. It also seems as if gamers had such a mixed reaction to the first Mass Effect. Did you love it or loathe it?

Mass Effect is such an interesting looking game, if only I could bring myself to care enough about it to play it. Either way I'm always glad to see some sweet DLC for a game.

Loved the game. Hopefully new DLC will give my the motivation to do one more playthrough with the two party members I've neglected in previous runs.

I'm actually playing through this game for the first time right now and I'm really enjoying it despite its flaws.

I heard a while ago that the new DLC was gonna be some sort of coliseum / combat arena type thing.

I'm on my second playthrough now...downloaded the first DLC, but haven't started it yet...it's a solid game. Although, ye Gods, the loading....

Collette! You must finish Mass Effect! The last 2 hours are some of the best sci-fi RPG ever created! A metacritic score of 91, its the 15th best rated 360 game! And boo on Destructoid on its paltry 7 score. Always gotta be different.

@Collette I'll agree with Methoa (aside from the scoring dig...)

The finale for Mass Effect is amazing and has some of the best and most griping last minute decision making/ dire situation gaming that I've ever played.

As for DLC, I'm hoping for game extending stuff, as opposed to mid game additions. Though I am in the midst of my tough-as-nails-soldier-woman playthrough (to contrast my hang loose, but firm when necessary psy-tech man from my first run)

I just finished this. I love this game. I'm on a second playthrough and would love some DLC.

I can't wait for the DLC, I liked the fist downloadable mission so I've been looking forward to this.

As an example of video game software, it has some issues. As an example of video game storytelling, it is one of the best ever made.

Love it. I generally can't stand RPGs, yet this is one of my favorite games of all time.

Like Flaming Burrito, I'm playing through it for the first time and finding a lot to love, despite a few glaring flaws. I've really bought into this world and its characters, and I love the way they interact with each other.

Not enough of the main villain, though. I'm about 21 hours in, and I want the villain to have more of a presence.

Since my 360 got stolen, I'll be playing through ME again in preparation for ME2. That'll be sweet if there's some great new DLC to go with it!

On a side note, with ME1 and other full games coming up in August for download, I'm crossing my fingers that MS gets around to dropping the prices on their larger HDs.

Christ, now I have to boot this up for a 4th playthrough? If I played any more of this game, it would have to be classified as an addiction. Can't wait to tackle another juicy add-on to this story! For anyone who's loving ME1 and looking forward to ME2, pick up the books Mass Effect: Revelation and Mass Effect: Ascension. They're necessary additions to the overall storyline, and will help you to better appreciate the characters and environments throughout the game. Both novels are even written by the lead writer for the first game, Drew Karpshyn! Honestly, I feel that the ME universe comes to life even more in the novels, so you really should check them out. That is all.

@ Char Aznable: Oh, but that is just it. The fact that the villain makes rare appearances toward the beginning of the game is just to reinforce his villainy. He's always one step ahead of you, leaving wreckage in his path, and you're forced to put it all together as you chase the sneaky bugger all over the galaxy. It pays off- well.

I loved Mass Effect, despite all of the things that annoyed most people about it. As for DLC, probably won't get it, I'll just play through ME1 again to refresh myself.

Destructoid gave Mass Effect a 7?

Good lord, you all should be ashamed of yourselves. It's almost as embarrassing as that guy constantly beating off to Bayonetta in each article he writes.

That's a good call, Andycadaver. The whole "puppet master manipulating these events behind the scenes" thing does make the villain appear that much more badass.

Loved the fist play through, second playthrough, after the inital wow factor wore off I saw all the problems with the game. Bad friendly AI, horrid invent system, your cars forward and reverse could randomly switch if you moved the camera to much and enemy AI (some of the time) would just bum rush you either steam rolling you or getting ripped apart by your gun fire. Still a fun game but much needs to be improved upon.

0..o Surprised, but Please? This game is one of my top five games due to the epic storyline, I will take more of this world considering I've been having the itch to go through just to get a character or two ready for ME2.

Still trying to play through this game for the first time on pc but some nasty errors(GPF error) is making it a pain in the ass. Here's hoping they fix the critical bugs before they try to tug at my wallet again.

Going through my 3rd and 4th playthroughs simultaneously, with a 5th and possibly 6th on the way. I plan on having every achievement in the game by the time ME2 comes out. It'll be nice to have some new DLC though, because I can almost say the words before they say them now. The first game was easily a 9.5 in my book.

Picked up ME two weeks ago for 10 bucks, loved it, played it through a few times (different allies, increasing difficulty), but I didn't get the first DLC yet. Mayhap they will discount or bundle bringing down the sky when they release this.

Interesting, I'm on my 3rd playthrough where I'm trying to be an asshole unless a person is nice to me before I can make a dialog suggestion. Naturally I buy Oblivion the day I find out there will be more to do in Mass Effect, BAH!

Honestly Collete if you're really interested in the DLC you should just download it during your current playthrough, they integrate it with the game so that it feels like another mission, not a like a separate chapter. Anyway, I'm on my 6th or 7th playthrough so it will be good to get some more variety.

Thought Mass Effect was underrated, especially here. The latest Mario Party scored higher than it by the same critic. I'm sorry, I just don't get how something that is clearly derivative of previous titles (which were average AT BEST to begin with, and very rent-ish titles) can come away with an 8 and something that is completely different and compelling can be rated at a mere 7. I guess it wasn't a franchise that started on the PC. Or it wasn't by Nintendo. Or it wasn't released on the XBLA. Whatever the outlandish reasoning was.

I also thought it was hilarious that the game was criticized so much for visual pop-in. Notice how the Wii is never criticized for looking blown-up/really blurry in 480i/p on an HDTV, even though it IS detrimental to the entire experience. Not something I'd personally complain about in a review, but we're supposed to go by the same standards, RIGHT?

I love Bioware. I played KOTOR, Jade Empire, and Mass Effect many, maybe too many times. I've beaten them all on the most difficult setting, and quite frankly, these games have been some of the only ones that I like to replay. I find new things, and try new directions, and don't get bored.

I've watched Bioware fix in the following game, problems with the last one, each one getting progressively better, and I can't imagine Mass Effect 2 being any different, and the stories are just great.

I'm sure any DLC will be very cool and will fix whatever imbalance it is supposed to fix. I can't wait for Mass Effect 2.
