Rumortoid: New Halo 3 Achievements based on map packs? photo

According to a poster at Ascendant Justice Forums, a new set of Halo 3 Achievements are on the way. Allegedly, there are a total of 30 Achievements being offered for 750 points. The information and photographic “proof” are said to originate from an especially sneaky photographer this year at PAX.

If you look closely at the Achievements listed, you’ll see various mentions of a “Legendary” or “Heroic” map, which coincide with previous map packs released by Bungie. If these two map packs were the only ones included in the Achievements, then Bungie would be breaking Microsoft procedure regarding 250 point Achievements for downloadable content.

This means in addition to staring at these photographs that could be fake, we’re supposed to presume that the Heroic and Legendary map packs will be getting their own unique set of Achievements, as well as an unannounced (Mythic) map pack. I’m usually not one to stir the pot too much, but these look believable. Hopefully, we’ll know more soon.

Hopefully there's some truth in this rumor, cause I am a dirty achievement whore who likes Halo but not quite enough to play it with out being rewarded for it. :P

Even if these are true, I doubt they'll get me back into Halo 3. I was really proud when I 1000/1000'd it, but I don't think I'll do any more.

Skulls?

Are they adding new single player as well? And the 7exp on the 7th day seems a little silly considering most people with the map packs probably play the game a lot.

And that's cool, whatever adds more to an already awesome game.

Halo 3 was such a god damn disappointment. Multi was great but the story was absolute shit compared to 2.

Fuck it, I'll be playing LPB and R2 anyways.

Probably legit. I just hope they're fucking easier than the old ones. The ranked free-for-all achievements are pains in the ass.

If they didn't find the info on your blog, then they're not obligated to mention it. As suggested above, they found it via Gamepro, thus Gamepro gets the credit. Standard procedure; don't take it personally.

You know, I'd be willing to be that Microsoft is willing to bend it's limit rules for it's biggest selling franchise. if it gets more people to come back and buy some MS Points/DLC maps.

Odd, I was informed quite a while ago that 250 Gamerscore was the limit for EACH DLC a developer brought out. Say for instance Bethesda released a new Island like the Shivering Isles in Oblivion, they would be able to add a further 250 gamerscore onto Oblivion giving it a total of 1500. As far as I know, this is how it works, developers have just chosen to not go higher than 1250 per game, mainly due to the fact that they only release one DLC pack for most games lifetimes anyway.

Still, 1750 is a HUGE jump from 1000. I would be a sucker and get the new maps just to get the 750 extra on Halo 3 to have it all completed.

I dunno, this seems a little suss

The big question is, will there be new armour unlockables for all 1750 points?

Heck, even a katana equivalent for Elites would be nice...
