Rumortoid: National Geographic: Afrika coming in November photo
     Animals

Sony's PS3 safari title Afrika is already out in Japan, but I totally forgot all about it until I was watching Qore episode 6 this past week. The insanely lovely Veronica Belmont held up a copy in a segment shot in Japan during the Tokyo Game Show (I think she hid from me at TGS), which reminded me that I still want to play this photography/exploration title.

National Geographic let it slip in their game release schedule that they're working with Sony to rebrand Afrika to... National Geographic: Afrika. I see what they did there. This was only a rumor until Sony confirmed to Gamzine that this game is actually Afrika.

What has not been confirmed is the release date. But, if National Geographic was right once, they might also be right about their listed release date of November 2008. Merekat photography, commence!

Please tell me this isn't $60... I'm all for this type of game and believe me I want it, but for no more than $30.

So, again, I have to ask...what the hell is this game?

I am actually interested in this game. I always like the photography elements in other games, and I think that a game that really focuses on it could have a lot of potential. I also think that this could really be a sign of the potential for next generation educational games.

I mean really, who didn't like playing The Oregon Trail in school when they were a kid?

Price will definitely matter for this game - I can't see paying $50+... but it does look pretty cool.

Is PS3 going to get a high-def version of Endless Ocean? That Wii game took a beating from the critical press upon release, but was an awesome choice for anyone looking to relax and explore. With a more powerful system pushing out high-def graphics, and some tweaks to gameplay options, it could be even cooler. (Also, the underwater setting is much more appealing to me than African plains.)

Afrika is like a free-roaming version of Pokemon Snap. Too bad you cannot run over the wildlife! :(

I agree with pretty much everyone, If the price is right this shouldn't be too bad of a game.

This doesn't seem like a purchase to me but I want to rent it so I can experience it.
