$149. Put that aside if you want to get down with the arm wiggling and jumping around this holiday season. A "trusted source" tells Edge that the motion sensing tech will cost $149 at launch this October, and will also come in an Arcade budle with the Xbox 360 for $299. Prices outside the US are going to be based on exchange rates.
"Microsoft expects to sell millions and millions of Natal units in its first year on the market so you can expect the software launch line-up to target non-traditional gamers," Edge's source said. "A major marketing campaign will also play a key role in attracting and educating the expanded audience about Xbox 360’s controller-free revolution."
This is going to cost a bit more than Sony's Move tech, which will come with a game for less than $100.
The same source says that release date is set for October 26th, but also added that the date could shift by a few weeks either way.
Finally, the source says that the final name of the device won't be "Natal." We could have told you that, though.
I'm going to have to see some sexy games for $149 in additional cost. I've heard a few rumblings that echo the source's "non-traditional gamers" statement. That doesn't sound too good.
As always, this is a rumor, so don't put too much weight behind it.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
At least the Xbox Arcade includes a controller.
I'll just give it a whirl at his place.
I think I will stick with Move, which looks like it will have games I want to play for less cash.
This also seems a bit too expensive for the casual crowd. An interesting pricing strategy if nothing else.
It's a fucking camera!
the most I would drop for it is $60, the same as a controller, because it pretty much is one.
I'll stick with Sony's Move, since it's actually a camera, a controller, and a nunchuck, and if it costs $150, that would actually make sense.
I'm seeing this price point as a leveling out with Sony. Microsoft is doing a great job marketing its whatever-Natal-is-going-to-be (although they should come up with a name SOON less they lose brand recognition to themselves), whereas Sony's marketing team needs to pull their heads out of their asses. An uneven price point puts them back on equal footing, however. And I'll bet Nintendo's not going to sit still, either - they've been quietly priming their market base with the Motion Plus, so they don't even have to sell the hardware - I think they're banking on the fact that games move hardware, not the other way around, and we'll be hearing a lot about the new Zelda in a couple months.
This is going to be an interesting holiday season.

Way too expensive for eyeyoy 2. I guess I should have anticipated this from the company who charges 200 dollars for a kilobyte of memory with their harddrives
Who is going to buy this? I really doubt this'll fly.
The move is shaping up to be more affordable.
599 US DOLLARS.
It really depends on the games. I still use the PS2 Eyetoy because it has games I like and the PS3 Eye just never had a game worth buying the camera for (besides, the eyetoy works with most of the games anyway).
No decent must-have games, no sale. I think this will hold true for both Natal and Move. The current pricing for both the Move and Natal are a little out of the range of the "casual" gamer... so the appeal has to be to the existing console base until the price of the tech comes down.
@pneuma08: Probably going to be named 'Natal' or is it just the project name? And I think that Sony are doing an excellent job at marketing. Kevin Butler, PS3 Slim, Play Create Share, ect. The only thing MS does well is overpricing stuff. I think it would be MS that needs to get their heads out of their asses and listen to their costumers for once.
What we're they think putting this out this gen? They should of just left it for next gen and pack it in with ever single console sold. This is going to fail faster than the HD-DVD Drive did. You'll see this mark down as fast as the stupid Vision Cam was. They'll be packing these in with two, or three games just to get rid of them, in a years time!
like wiis "wii sports"?
I'm an active guy and everything, but the whole "move to game" thing just doesn't work when I still have to keep my eyes trained on a screen while I do stuff. Wake me when there are holograms.
Also, @Diyomaro: "I'll stick with Sony's Move, since it's actually a camera, a controller, and a nunchuck, and if it costs $150, that would actually make sense"
So wait, you say Natal is only worth $60 because its just a camera but that Move is worth $150 because its a camera, controller and nunchuck? WTF? You do realize that your MOVEments in Natal work as a controller/nunchuck-like input right? Right?! Or are you just trying to troll on purpose?
Cocks, Also them.
So, people that have a 360 and still don't have a Wii, will probably be better off buying a Wii and they will have more games to play.
People that already have a Wii aren't going to drop $300 bucks (console + natal) to play the same games, just in HD.
I suppose it will sell like hotcakes in the holydays, when all the moms will buy it to finally shut up the their spoiled kids, but those get bored quickly and do not spend hundreds of dollars every month in titles with natal support, and are not a big enough userbase to warrant the continuous support for the device.
It's staring to smell like another ___(insert any random failed peripheral add-on from a previous generation, I personally suggest Eye-toy or Sega Activator).
Your entitled to your opinion, but everything your saying is speculation.
Microsoft has shown next to nothing software wise for Natal yet, and the price isn't official. I think getting our panties in a bunch over speculated prices is completely unnecessary. In the past though, we know MS does gouge prices for it's 1st party accessories, and I wouldn't put a $150 price point past them.
As for Move, again nothing has been stated officially, but if I was interested in Motion control, as a multi console owner, I would rather pay $100 for a Controller, nun-chuck, and camera bundled with a game (the speculated bundle) then $150 for a camera (Natal). To be honest though, I'm not interested in either.
If you look at the article below this, as people have known for months now, PSeye can pretty much do everything Natal can for $50. "If" this is true, MS really needs to think about a cheaper price before launch, but regardless, I know people will flock to buy this for Christmas.
Hope this doesn't start any flame wars, not trying to flame bait, just tossing in my two cents.
"DONT CHYA WANT IT!!!!???"
Almost 50 comments in and I think most people glossed over this sentenced, it seems.
