Rumortoid: Microsoft hiring for new Halo-specific studio photo

Halo Wars ... Halo Chronicles ... you thought Microsoft was going to be stopping there, eh? No chance.

A reliable source has told Destructoid that Microsoft Game Studios is actively looking to build a team to "help develop a new game in the Halo universe," referring to the project as a "new experience." More specifically, the information suggests that Microsoft is currently preparing to create a new internal Halo-centric studio to develop the title. This, of course, would indicate that the studio that gave birth to the franchise, Bungie, wouldn't necessarily be directly involved with the new project, if at all.

With Bungie now technically an independent studio and Microsoft controlling the Halo IP, forming an internal studio to work on the popular franchise does make sense. Time will tell whether or not Microsoft gets the studio off of the ground, and then maybe what "new experience" they have in store for the series.

If they can make Halo "awesome" again (not Halo 2 or 3) and add something new I'm all for it!

Y'know I like Halo's story. I hope Microsoft does good with whatever people they hand this franchise over too.

Microsoft is going to run the Halo series into the ground. They're overdoing it.

Too much Halo news lately. Unfortunately, it sounds as if they're shooting for quantity rather than quality.

As long as future Halo titles help flesh out the mythos and stray away from Master Chief-centric stories then I am all for it.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Oh lordy.

There's been 3 Halo games with only Halo wars announced so far and already everyone is like, OMG THEY ARE RUNNING INTO THE GROUND, NO MORE HALO MS, NEW STUFF BLABLABLA.

And yet we have other companies who taken their enduring franchises across many generations and everyone is ok with that.

MS is trying to build a studio to focus on these games, Halo is MS's baby, if you truly believe they will let the series be run into ground or start sucking, you are an idiot and deserving of ridicule. Have a little faith, if other companies can do it, MS can.

Oh wait, my bad, Halo post, here I am using sense, give me a second so I can get into the mentality.

Halo? More like Gaylo, shit sux, M$ will destroy their core franchise and its gonna be hilarious.

There we go, I tried to mispell thing but its just not in me.

I dont think this is gonna work out. Simply put, i dont think anyone will make Halo games as good as Bungie (love em or hate em, they are fantastic games for what they are).

I love the Halo games, but i couldnt care less about running the franchise into the ground. What i care about is them wasting my time by putting our mediocre (or worse) games, which i fear may happen.

Prove me wrong, MS.

I have never liked the halo games and since no one will join in a sensible argument as to why is or is not good, I choose to ignore all halo news since it holds no interest whatsoever to me.

*sigh*

I realize that a lot of people don't like Halo, but this is ridiculous...

Check out the Final Fantasy series.

Thirteen games.

Halo currently has 3, plus two in development (I'm not counting the possibility that is Gears of Halo Recon). That's 5, for those of you that can't count.

I'm not gonna count FF spinoffs either.

Same with Dragon Quest.

ESPECIALLY with The Legend of Zelda.

The games have remained essentially the same over God knows how many years.

Sure, Ocarina brought time-travel AND lock-on targeting, but time travel was just a gimmick.

How many Zelda games have there been? Let's count... 1... 2... 14 FRIGGIN games, not counting the terrible CD-I spinoffs (shudders).

This also happened with Mario. And possibly Metroid.

AND... Mario and Zelda both got horrible cartoons.

So don't go off saying that they're aiming for quantity and not quality... go say that to Nintendo.

I don't hate Nintendo; I love their games. I'm just not obsessed w/ Mario and Zelda, and I shake my head every time people say Super Mario Galaxy was innovative.

End rant.

exiaox,

Why do you count the Halo spinoffs but not the Final Fantasy spinoffs?
