Rumortoid: Mega Man 9 in the works? Spacecat tells all photo
     Mega Man

Look, I drink...

... and from time to time, I do a little bit of Matlocking. I may not be the best source for rumors, especially considering that I have never ever been correct on anything. However, I am not the source. Spacecat is someone I met during my days as a unicorn wrangler. He travels through time to find gamers the juicy gaming rumors that you crave. Here is what he has to say...

I have just returned from the year 2009. Global warming is a lie, by the way. It's freezing cold there. Anyways, as you know, the core Mega Man series died off over 10 years ago with Mega Man 8, but fans will be happy to know it isn't dead completely. Mega Man 9 is fully in the works. It gets announced in 2008. The series will introduce new characters, provide online multiplayer, and will have leaderboards. The game will be hitting the Xbox 360 on Live and the PlayStation 3 on PSN. For those of you in Japan, don't worry. The series is coming to you also in the form of Rockman. Oh no! They see me. I have to go now.

Well now. Nobody can dispute a rumor from a talking cat that has the ability to travel through time. One thing I can add is that this "rumor" in no way is related to the God-awful Mega Man movie in the works. For all of you Matlocks out there, Mega Man X was not Mega Man 10. Look at the Wikipedia page (never lies) before you run your mouth.

[Workmeng's note: I did attempt to contact Capcom directly to verify Spacecat's claims, but did not get a proper response, so it remains a pointed rumor until then. From the future. In space. Meow.]

Let me know if they add the ability to duck in this game and I'll try and squeeze in some time in my schedule to care.

i'd vote spacecat into the senate.

but seriously, i'd love a true mega man 9. wouldn't mega man & bass be considered a "9"? or is that like, "8 and then some"?

this...and maybe another legends title.

actually, nevermind.

Actually, Megaman and Bass for the GBA was the last of the classic Mega/Rockman series.

I actually cried with joy when the Megaman Collection came out for PS2.

Knowing Ron, he's probably holding out on all of us, even us editors. I wouldn't be surprised if he were playing a beta of this game right now with SurferGirl, SpaceCat,HockeyPanda, and who knows how many other idiotically named industry insiders.

Or at the very least, I bet he has screenshots.

Screenshots PLZ RON!!! PLZ!!!!!

Toonces FTW. let's hope a new legends game will have plenty of stock footage of cars flying off of cliffs.

hey, MGS4 360, while probably highly improbable, is never impossible. i mean, Substance came out of the original black box, and shit, who thought we'd see Resident Evil 4 on PS2? or Devil May Cry 4 on 360? or Sonic in Smash Bros?

things change people! we live in crazy times!

I'd ask Space Cat to go forward enough to learn about Duke Nukem Forever, but I hear the effects of time travel can be lethal when traveling over 500 years.

Control-F -> "bass"

Ah, glad to see people beat me to the whole Mega Man & Bass thing. Great game, though I suggest the SNES version over the GBA one - the latter has the videogame equivalent of pan and scan, with bosses that are more difficult because the arena is smaller but their patterns are unchanged.

I'll take a Mega Man that comes after 8 that DOESN'T come off as a vehicle for starting a new character series, please and thank you.

Multiplayer?
Leaderboard?

Space Cat is talking mad crazy, trendy shit.

Still, do want please.

@RedFace: The first Mega Man on NES had down as 'duck' in the manual. Down did nothing. Mega Man just pwned you through time travel.
