Rumortoid: Mega Man 9 DLC dated, priced and detailed? photo

Looks like we have ourselves a rather big rumor on our hands. According to Destructoid community member GohanGVO, future downloadable content for newly released WiiWare/XBLA/PSN game Mega Man 9 has been unearthed, priced and dated. If it's true, then you can expect to pay 100 Wii Points for the privilege of having an extra difficult mode. Not cool ... if true.

Endless Attack - 300 Wii Points - Sale Date: 10/6
 - "Test your skills on a stage without end. Try to break the record for getting the farthest. Results will be displayed in the Rankings. Not compatible with Challenges."
Hero Mode - 100 Wii Points - Sale Date: 10/20
- "Play the game with a more difficult level of enemy distribution. Not compatible with Rankings or Challenges."
Superhero Mode - 100 Wii Points - Sale Date: 10/20
- "Play the game with a super difficult level of enemy distribution. Not compatible with Rankings or Challenges."
Proto Man Mode - 200 Wii Points - Sale Date: 10/6
- "Play the game as Proto Man. You can use the shield while jumping. Some of Proto Man's abilities may differ from Mega Man's. There is no story for Proto Man. Not compatible with Rankings or Challenges."
Special Stage - 100 Wii Points - Sale Date: 10/20
- "Gives you another Time Attack Stage to try, including a new Boss at the end! Results with be displayed in the Rankings. Not compatible with Challenges."

We are awaiting verification from Capcom on this, but what we can say is that we'd heard from our own sources a while ago that Capcom Japan was planning to charge for a harder difficulty after the release of MM9. Could Mr. Nickel be scheduling a date with Ms. Dime?

Nice modes, though I'd probably only get Endless and Proto Man. I've never been big on time sttack type modes.

Paying for harder. Enh. Not really my thing, unless I get really sadistic.

More characters would have had my money though, no question. Playing as Rush maybe? :)

This is disturbing and this trend must die. I pray people are not stupid enough to buy stuff like this but most people love to prove me wrong. Vote for Bush!

The DLC list above came straight from Megaman 9. It's on one of the menus.

Am I the only one that thinks that MM9 is a freakin bargain at $10? Paying a buck or two for additional stuff seems fair to me, since I expected the game to be $15 anyway.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Thats the stupidest thing ever! Soon they are going to start charging us for the fucking option menus.

There is no way they're charging for this shit...These look like unlocks, not DLC.

You're going to pay for a higher difficulty setting? Are you crazy or just plain stupid? Anyone who supports this is proving gamers are willing to buy anything that should have been included in the game in the first place as unlocks or there from the start.

If they're unlocks, that's fine, I can roll with it and just not buy it. If they're actual DLC, though, than this just proves that Japanese developers have no idea how to effectively use DLC. As usual.

vexed alex: Hate to break it to you, but Protoman DLC has already been confirmed with a 200/160/$1.99 price tag by Scamcom.

As to your question, I'll go with neither crazy nor stupid. Scamcom will make a killing selling some or all of these as DLC. The stupid and/or crazy people will be the ones buying it.

To those of you bitching because you think you're being skimped out of stuff that should have been included with the game:

Did Mega Man 1-6 have multiple playable characters? Did they have multiple difficulties? (other than MM2, no) Did they have endless levels?

NO!

So you're not really being skimped on any content now are you? Also, Mega Man 1-6 cost $50 apiece when they were released. MM9 costs $10.

With a time attack mode, online leaderboards, and over 50 in-game achievments on all three consoles, you're already getting more content than what was in any of the NES Mega Man games, and you're getting it for $40 cheaper.

Again, if you don't want to pay for the DLC, don't buy it. And wash the sand out of your vaginas while you're at it.

Mr. Claus, are you really comparing the cost of old Mega Man games to a modern small downloadable title? You do realize that the amount of the budget for this title is significantly less then any previous Mega Man game. So, the cost should be significantly less then any previous entry into the series. Don't be an apologist for Capcom for this mess.

Times have changed, friend. This is a download game and as such, there's a price standard.

And what the fuck is this? We have to praise them for adding things the original game didn't have? Yes, guys. Let's be happy this new game has new features. Let's award them with more money.

I can be angry at the fact that they're making me pay for shit that should have been in the game in the first place. Also, while I'm washing that sand out my vagina, you can take Capcom's dick out of your mouth.

I'm fine with the DLC. I think paying for extra difficulty is stupid, but they kept it at 1 dollar per difficulty mode, and some people are into that sort of thing. I'll probably only buy Proto Man out of all of those, but I'm just happy that Wii games are FINALLY getting DLC

I'll say this shit one more time, little Alex. If you don't think the DLC or even the full game are worth your time or money, then don't ask your Mommy to borrow her credit card so you can put more funnybucks on your Microsoft account, and don't buy them.

Pretty simple.

Maybe everyone should calm the fuck down.

If you love MM9, and you are interested in the extras, then a couple dollars won't seem like a big deal.

If you love MM9, and don't want the extras for a couple dollars more, then don't buy them.

If you don't care about MM9, then no issue. Really, it's not something to get crazy over.

I may not have been an 80s kid you elitist ass, but I at least have enough sense to know when I'm being being taken advantage of.

Now, how's about you scurry along with your NES controller t-shirts and blog about games not being as "good" as they were "back in the day".

That's everyone's excuse when someone's attacking something they love. "Well don't buy it". Of course I'm not going to buy it you stupid inbred fuck. Why in the hell would I spend money on garbage like that?

I'll buy the core game, but I'm not going to waste money on shit that should have been in the game from day one, and if it wasn't, it should have been patched in.

You know, by your logic we shouldn't criticize or complain about anything we feel is wrong. "EA has shitty DRM? Let's not complain, let's just ignore it." Well, I don't want to ignore it. I'd like to play a few EA games on my PC but the DRM issue is keeping me from doing that. I'll complain until it gets fixed.

So, fine. Go ahead and buy this "DLC" and show Capcom that you're stupid enough to pay for this garbage.

im with vitamin....

game should be sold complete. no DLC. Episodic is excused and your music based song downloads as well.

MM9 woulda been great for 15$ with all of that included. Capcom is nickel and diming you all. yes a dollar isn't anything but when it adds up you have to pay 8 dollars for barely any new material. when the entire game cost on 10. then when you add up all the random 8$s out there, that's when capcom is smiling how their plan worked to weasel money out of you.

It seems they left out the best DLC anyways - more bosses/stages.

who wants a game when the pieces are scattered all over.

that said....it doesnt stop me from getting MM9 though tonight.

Having played the game a bit, its really a steal at even $18 of my money.

Even better, since I'm doing well enough with the current difficulty and probably wont' ever want to by the difficulty modes. :D

If its a game that sold retail at $50, then I could lean more to Alex's side, I think. But considering the bargain that it really is, I certainly feel comfortable paying for what the DLC is, because I want it.

What really does disappoint me, even as big fan of the series, is that this is probably it so far as DLC. I doubt the hooks are in place for more characters to be included after Protoman, nor are there hooks in place for more levels and things. Considering that, yeah, might as well keep it complete and sell a full bundle.

But I'm not going to feel bad about getting a "discount" package that doesn't have a spare time attack mode that I don't want, or two extra difficulties I probably won't be interested. At the end of the day, if you're getting the fun out of the app that you're looking for, by bit or in whole, you might as well call yourself a winner.

Also, the argument above was way too hot to be over 8 bucks. :)
