Electronic Gaming Monthly's rumormonger Quartermann has caught wind that Remedy Entertainment may not be the guys developing the next Max Payne. He seems to think that Remedy may have their hands too full of Alan Wake and have given the title to the same internal Rockstar team that handled the development for The Warriors.
I was under the impression that Alan Wake had gone the way of Duke Nukem Forever, which means that instead of developing the title, Remedy is sitting around talking about donuts and tossing around ideas for Max Payne theme parks. At least Remedy doesn’t post a job ad with a ridiculously small picture once every three months to remind their fans that the game is still sitting in a corner somewhere. Instead, they casually remind us that work on the title hasn’t went particularly smooth.
Aside from Alan Wake, it’s refreshing to hear that Max Payne could possibly be developed elsewhere. I enjoyed Max Payne 2, but it could have been much more. I need more drugs, chicks, noir, scrunched face, and gritty narrative in my shooter than what I received last time around.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
but I don't think the gameplay would work now if it's still stuck in the early 2000s(like GTA4)
The only problem with Rockstar doing this game... they don't do PC very well imo. I have no idea how MP 1 and 2 translated to console, as I never played them, but my guess is it was no where near the same experience as the PC versions.
I could be wrong, but we'll see. Its probably going to have to change drastically to work well with the next gen consoles. But, thats just me making wild, yet somewhat educated, guesses. I suppose change could be a good thing.
considering that a max payne movie is coming out it would only make sense to have a game coming out. Just hope its the same quality of story and gameplay as the others.
Considering just about everyone died in MP 2 i dont know where the story will go.
(possible spoilers for MP2)
1. Return Max Payne to his outsider status. Having him be a cop in MP2 made him a little too official and offered too much stability in his life. I understand that the cop is a staple of the noir genre, but I prefer him to be on the lamb. Frame him for a murder or something.
2. Drop Mona Sax: We've done what we need with her. Follow the "bad" ending of MP2 and let's make Max a loner again.
3. Bring back Valkyr. We need the crazy druggies.
4. Drop the stupid bullet time reload spin.
5. Snow. Again. Seriously, running down the barren streets of a shut-down, snow covered New York was one of the most surreal things about the first game. Running through the cold night with nothing but the snow crunching below your feet and the howl of the wind to accompany you was pitch-perfect.
6. Also, I wouldn't hate to return to the original actor that played Payne. He seemed too old in MP2.
Do it, Rockstar. Make Daddy happy.
And by the way, best deal on a game ever...Max Payne for $3.00 at Gamestop! Buy um and hand um out to your friends!!! I bought ten!!!
I agree about the snow, I loved the snow setting of 1 more than the rainy setting of 2.
James was pretty good, but I like Sam better. However, I wouldn't doubt Mark W. to be the voice/face of MP3.
that game lets me live out all my murder simulation fantasies IN SLOW MOTION! its so fun to blast some insane drug addict in slow motion with dual berettas, then as he dies switch to the machine gun and pump him with about 4000 bullets before he hits the ground.
yeah.
Max Payne 1 is the shit. 2 was great but didnt have the spark that the first one had.
