Rumortoid: Lord of the Rings Online headed to Xbox 360 photo

According to a reliable source, Turbine is currently eyeing their MMO, Lord of the Rings: Online, for an Xbox 360 release. The source added that Turbine has hit a snag, unrelated to the development process. Microsoft, allegedly, won’t commit to allow Turbine to utilize a free-to-play model, which is what the developer desires for the console version of LOTRO.

The good news is we’re hearing that Microsoft is close to finalizing an MMO model for Xbox LIVE. This is a model that, hopefully, won’t exclude Silver members or force Gold subscribers to pay for two services simultaneously.

We contacted Turbine today in order to obtain official confirmation of the console title. Turbine wouldn’t confirm any of the source’s information, yet none of it was denied. Our source also indicated that Turbine's technology for a LOTRO Xbox 360 title was ready to go; the assessment that the title was done and ready to be shipped, however, was "factually incorrect," according to Turbine.

I really, really hope this is an April Fools joke because if Microsoft would tell developers what they have to charge for their games...oh my god.

I'd actually prefer same servers. FFXI's servers are very thriving due to everyone(both console/PC and English/Japanese/ 70-500
European) on the same servers. If everyone is divided up, the player base seems smaller in general. Console players would complain that the game is empty when in fact the PC servers are thriving; they just don't realize.
Sure you get more immature brats on consoles(especially 360), <70-501 but those kids will be bored of LotRO and leave in a few weeks, same as they did on the PC version. The game would quickly revert back to the mature player 70-502 base after a few week period of the kids trying 70-503 it out.

The difference between this game and just about every other Wii game that supports DLC is that the games that sport it already have a feature that allows people to add things.
I question if Ryota was aware of this or not. If they decide to charge for such content, the game would need a sticker swap for the orange "Pay&play" on the box too..
I want it to happen of course.
