Rumortoid: Lego Rock Band? Seriously? No, seriously!? photo

In an early running for the most ridiculous rumor of the year, it is being claimed that Travellers Tales is working to produce Lego Rock Band. Yes, you read that correctly. Lego and Rock Band, together at last.

Despite this one having a strong whiff of the bullsh*t about it, the good old "anonymous source" it came from is claiming that this is 100% correct. That proves it then. Most people are calling it "the stupidest rumor [they've] ever read," and I am inclined to agree that, true or not, this is one stupid concept.

As ludicrous as it sounds, the games industry is so in love with cheap knock-offs and crossovers for the sake of cash that I honestly wouldn't be shocked if, one day, we saw a Lego Rock Band, and all sorts of other videogames crossbred with the Lego franchise.

Neither EA nor TT have confirmed this. We know a new Lego title is out this year, but that's like saying there will be a stabbing in East London this year. Whether this could be true or not, we're not saying, it just sounds so utterly stupid that we had to share. For the moment, we can just file this one under "W" for "WTF?"

Yeah, what Daxelman said. There's probably a music region within the LEGO MMO's game world.

Sounds fake to me; or misinformed at the very least.

A cool game would be an online shooter where you can build your own lego guy and/or vehicles and customise them by taking bits on and off. Then you blow an enemy's head off and replace your head with your own. Would be a bit unnerving to see someone running around with my former head on them.

This would be too much i think...

could be cool DLC-option though for RB to make your rocker look like a lego-dude, but a full game? useless waste of money and resources I think...

No matter how stupid the concept seems at first, it makes perfect since if you consider the Rock Band games aren't aimed towards kids younger than teens in the slightest, so they're making a kid's version of Rock Band with Legos, it's actually brilliant from a marketing view.

Just to point out, all the Lego: _____ games to come out so far have been based off lego franchises that already exist as toys. So if they make Metal Gear Lego, Lego Robocop, or the Sonic kind, you have to keep in mind there would be actual Legos of these, which would be undoubtedly the coolest thing ever. Chances are I would buy every single Metal Gear Lego.

So I'm thinking that this is a good idea. A Rock Band game with a setlist geared towards younger crowds (without the tuff rawk schtick) would probably sell like hotcakes.
