Rumortoid: Kmart circular confirms 360 price drop photo
     Price Drop

While we all rejoice over the idea of a price drop, the rumor about the 360 getting one has been floating around for a while, yet the price has remained the same. This recent development may point to an actual development (or the guy who printed this circular being forcibly fired and possibly beaten): the ad you see in the gallery actually advertises the system for $299.99, its "new low price". Hmmm...

The ad was spotted by Kotaku on NeoGAF and appears real, although we have no way of being 100 percent sure until Microsoft makes an official announcement.

[Thanks, Brian]

I think this may just be because K Mart is doing so terribly at retail, too.

Kmart is still around? Didn't walmart buy the company out including the employee's souls? If not what are they waiting for?

@Corak

that was sears...and yea, i'm also still surprised Kmarts are still around. (there's still one down the street from my house too.)

I also agree with DeadHead. When's the next PS3 pricedrop? Weren't they hoping GTA IV and MGS4 be big system sellers? I kinda thought MGS4 would be at least but not much has changed.

Should I buy it right after it drops or wait to see if Opus/Valhalla drops a month later.

I work at a Target. I know we should have the labels and such for July by now. I'll fucking scope this shit out tomorrow.

K-Mart and Toys R Us should be banned from video games for all the leaks they provide.

I hope they never get banned, though.

I have K-Mart to thank for getting Mass Effect 10 days early.

This is what they need in lieu of their stagnating sales.

YES.

Looks like I might be finally getting a 360 of my own.

Is that Gordon Freeman trying to have sex with a PS3 and a Wii?

You know, this still doesn't really help me. See, with the amount of arcade games and additional content I'm likely to download, I will likely need the Elite. Besides, I'm still too poor to afford it anyway. When you have no income, a $50 price drop doesn't really make much difference.

$299 for the 20GB version? I don't own either the 360 or PS3 (yet). Considering Microsoft's method of totally screwing over their "customers" with regard to how they lock you into their hard drives, is this really a good value? I mean, WTF! The official 120GB drive still has an MSRP of $180!

Has anyone come up with a definitive way to upgrade the 360's hard drive without paying Microsoft 3x the price of a bare drive on NewEgg? Hell, a 320GB drive on NewEgg is only $130, and an 80GB is less than $60! If there is any guaranteed way to successfully upgrade an XB360 hard drive, that will go a l-o-n-g way to me getting this unit instead of waiting for a PS3.

Holy crud! I’m starring in a Destructoid blog that, uh, has nothin’ to do with me. Sweetass! Is this repayment for almost killing me at GDC last year? It’s neato that so many peoples enjoy my nakedness. Yup.

If the HDD sku goes down to that, I think that the plain, no hdd version might end up undercutting the Wii...which would actually be pretty interesting.

Price drops are always a good thing. And besides, I need to get a 360 now so I can get around to playing Bioshock and GTA4 and Ikaruga.
