Rumortoid: Killzone 2 DLC prepping for launch photo

Killzone 2 might not be released to the general public yet, but we've talked about it so much that it may as well be. It should really come as no surprise then, that downloadable content is already spinning around the rumor mill, ready to be processed into delicious fact bread. Or something.

Chief among the gossip is that Killzone 2 will have its own in-game store, very much like LittleBigPlanet or Rock Band, where new clothing and upgrades can be bought for your character. More traditionally, map packs are also being discussed, including a retro map set that brings in the multiplayer stages of the original Killzone

An eerily mysterious anonymous source is claiming that both paid and free DLC are being considered, along with brand new original maps and modes. From the sounds of things, Guerrilla is looking to squeeze blood from Killzone until only dust resides in its veins.

This really is no surprise. Killzone 2 is the PS3's marquis title. You can bet that Sony especially will want to reap the rewards of DLC and make as much money as possible out of the closest thing it has to a "killer app." DLC is coming, no doubt about that.

The picture is fucking priceless, haha.

But it's good to see that they don't need to wait long to get some DLC (the wait for some L4D DLC is and continues to be annoying).

If the game hasn't been released yet then why can't that content be put on the disc?

I remember when you paid 40 quid for a full (brand new) game, not 50 quid plus whatever extra you need to download the rest of the content.

I fucking hate the industry.

That was quick, they already made some DLC!

Oh wait, they just cut it out of the retail version.

I should point out that the rumor never specifies that the DLC even exists, only that it's being talked about. We don't know if it's been made and held back from retail or not. Obviously if it has been, then that's rubbish, but if it's genuinely stuff being made after the game went gold, I don't mind so much.

Nice one. Let's kill of the rest of the hype with early DLC.
Even if it's developed after gold status, people will complain about it.

@Jim Sterling agreed on the rubbish if its been created prior to going gold; but hopefully not the case. :)

I'm not paying for original Killzone maps. They weren't all that great.

@Seamonkey420; they haven't made any mention of it.

This game is going to sell well and it's really cool they are gonna get there own store, I just hope after slapping down 60 bones for another shooter about space marines fighting other evil space marines, they don't make you cough up 10 bucks for DLC. But sony probably will

I don't know the ins and outs of game releases. But I assume that it takes the publishers a while to actually get enough copies of the game press to disk for release.

If this completed DLC does exist it probably wasn't ready until after the game went gold.
