Rumortoid: Killer Instinct 3 sheet music surfaces, KI 3 confirmed? photo
     Rumortoid
Rumors of a Killer Instinct title for the 360 have been circulating for quite awhile. Recently, MundoRare was sent an interesting item that furthers the speculation on the title. Instead of blurry screenshots, the Rare fan website was sent sheet music for the main theme of Killer Instinct 3.

The Microsoft source that sent in the notes will be kept anonymous for his own protection, but the scribbles of music looks real to me. The only problem is, I haven’t the slightest clue what to do with sheet music. For all I know, this could be the main theme to Super Mario Bros.

A full scan of the first page will be provided in the gallery and since we can provide that, I would like to ask if any of you guys can play this little portion of the music? It would be interesting to see what this really is and reflect on what Cinder has been doing in all of his downtime over the years.

It sounds like the old-school KI theme, but with a grind-core twist.

I thought it looked boring until I saw the whole sheet. All those repetitive notes are just like the intro/buildup.

If I'm not mistaken, this only represents one part of the song too. It just represents one instrument... maybe electric guitar or something?

Might still suck though.

Can anyone play that, or knows somebody who can?

Regarding a new Killer Instinct, here's what I have heard: the rights to this game are confusing, and include Midway (who released the game in the arcade). Last I heard, a source told me Midway knew absolutely nothing about a new Killer Instinct game. This was earlier in the year, amidst the rumors.

My guess? Rare's not working on a new Killer Instinct. Do I want to be wrong? Totally.

Ya, looks like it would be a buildup for electric guitar. Likely palm-muting all the repetitive bits like in a Metallica intro, then going into a chromatic riff.

I'd play it and put it up on youtube but I don't have a means.

if someone hasn't it done it by the time I get batteries, I'll take it to the piano lab and tap it out.

it's not going to be very interesting.

@ fetusmilk

Killer Instinct 2 was released in the arcades way back in 1995 or 1996, my memory is foggy. KI2 introduced the awesome Tusk and Kim Wu.

I'm just going to say this, if I can't hit someone preprogrammedly a jillion times in a game that calls itself Killer Instinct, I think it's best that they DON'T make a new one.

I just set it up in a sequencer with a generic "strings" synth and it's not really all that exciting. The whole page is build up. The "interesting" looking stuff two thirds of the way down is just repeated at a higher octave at the end of the page. I don't think anything central to the theme of the music or indicative of the whole piece really sits on this page. I'd share it, but thanks to 32nd notes and 64th notes, its a pain to string all the sequences together and my girlfriend is bugging me to play WoW with her.

I did up a MIDI as well, and listereo has the right of it. It's nothing too exciting. I'm trying to find a site to host it, but for some reason none of them are letting me upload it. For now, you'll just have to trust me: it sucks.
