The above images were apparently posted by a member of the Castlevania team on the GameFAQs forums minutes before the thread mysteriously disappeared.
Hmmmm. If the screen grabs are real, they obviously prove there is a new Castlevania game on the Nintendo DS in he works. But could they be fake? My Belmont senses tell me maybe, but why, then, did the original thread disappear? Man, where is Angela Lansbury when you need her?
What do you think? Real? Fake? Don’t care? Keep in mind that I want to let the exciting prospect of another classic 2D Castlevania game sink in a little bit before any of you Matlocks call shenanigans, okay?

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
k?
Iga also said that 2D games would not sell well on the home consoles, so I wouldn't expect to see any HD Castlevanias anytime soon.
Besides, the DS is currently the best system.
I myself am at the end of Portrait of Ruin now. It's my third game, and it's a lot more enjoyable than Dawn of Sorrow.
I think he's just afraid that if it had a female protagonist, people would immediately rave about it like it was intentionally made a treatise on the role of women in games. A "Castlevindication of the Rights of Man".
If only they could make her wear buoyant leg braces...
Castlevania: Mall of Horrors (Starring Buffy Summers)
That would kick all sorts of ass.
This was confirmed a while ago. OLD!!!!SHIFT1111!!!!
I'm kidding ^_^
Spread the good news! It's apparently coming!
I really hope these screens are real. I'm especially curious to why the word Wii is in the menu and if it eludes to any sort of Wii Castlevania spiffiness in the future
Right guys?!?
Right?
Uhhh.....hello?
I knew about it back in September. I suppose no one listened to me, though.
HA HA! I figured you would appreciate that. :)
Have any of you played Portrait of Ruin? Charlotte anyone?
PoR was better than DoS? I thought Ruin was a pile of short trash that implemented the co op system poorly. Don't get me wrong I love the game. but the game felt half complete....just like the half castle.
and Mister Disco, Charlotte aint a belmont. so it don't count.
I'd love to see another Castlevania truly. I do remember on hearing of a new Castlevania in the works (and I wouldn't be surprised if it's true...one of Konami's big titles.) but I just hope it breaks away from the Potrait of Ruin style and gets back to the 1 player bit. Or at least work on that crapply done co-op.
so I'm sure if those shots are real, I doubt the chick is the main character.
The less said about Harmony the better and 3D ones where mediocre at best. IGA can't make a 3D game to save his life.
With this, I can only say that Koji Igarashi has to be fired from doing anything more with the series.
He had a flash in the pan with Dracula X and SotN. That was 12-14 years ago. What has he done of significance lately? Nothing. While the GBA/DS parade had been decent quality, none of them have been memorable. I've replayed every CV game multiple times... except for any since SotN. I'll slog through them and beat them, but none have any of those special moments.
The series needs to be re-imagined from a new perspective. Badly. CV is a pale shadow of its former glory.
Oh, and you know what Igarashi did when he tried to deviate from a Castlevania title? He made Nanobreaker. You really want this man to helm any more games.
Thanks, Chad!
How about Symphony of the Night? Really? Alucard was a Belmont? :P Come on. It's easily the most popular and beloved Castlevania game, and it doesn't star a Belmont. Where's your logic?
Ever heard of Castlevania: Bloodlines? John Morris? While he was descended partially from the Belmont bloodline, he is not a Belmont, and that is stated most explicitly. Hell, Portrait of Ruin stars Jonathan Morris, his son, alongside the aforementioned Charlotte, who is descended from Sypha Belnades of Castlevania III fame. None of them are Belmonts. All of them are viable heroes for the series.

THANK YOU!!!!!
You're welcome. :)
:D
my logic was that the girls can be main characters. But the combo of a female main and a belmont is pretty much far and wide.
What I don't want to see is the game repeating the same as Aria and Dawn did. Because they both felt the same damn way outside of the story and characters added. Dawn felt alot like Aria of Sorrow 1.5 with stylus action included. Plus the drift from the original Aria artwork to the goofy looking anime style in Dawn was bad....REAL BAD. for once, I was upset for a game taking a anime style art. But that's because of the past game having such sexy ass artwork.
If it weren't for Metroid, we would never see Symphony the way it became. It still bugs me every now and then.. why did we go this direction? Let alone the 3D adventures were quite crippled, and challenging at the same time.
Dracula X's remake brought back that galvanizing design from the classic 2D days. And its remarkable its still able to challenge gamers today.
Better yet, new CV, Kojima's triumphant return, and its actually going somewhere. Hell Phantasy Star managed to pull off a "Generations" storyline, why not CV too? C'mon Konami make it worthwhile (not including Dawn & whatever that 2-character cv was called, those were horrible)
