With or without Cory Barlog on board, God of War III will be a reality on the PlayStation 3. This much we know. The game will likely be rated M (for mature!) and will feature Kratos fighting gigantic bosses, hopefully in full 1080p. It should also support the Dual Shock 3, so we can feel every last shiver and shake of Kratos' rippling muscles and brutality.
While all of this sounds like great fun, according to Game Radar's "reliable Sony source," don't hold your breath for too long. Word has it that we won't be seeing the next-gen Kratos adventure until Christmas 2009 ... at the earliest.
Of course, with God of War: Chains of Olympus coming to the PlayStation Portable in the near future, it won't be long until we'll be tearing zombie soldiers in half once again. But two years? Maybe this will be the longest, most epic God of War yet ... so we're talking at least seven hours of gameplay here. Don't disappoint, Sony!

Online gaming is pointless in a game like this. The only way you'll see Kratos in any online game will be Soul Calibur IV.

At the VERY least, they should have been developing GoW3 parallel with GoW2 so that it would be out sooner than 2010. I don't understand what took them so long to green light this thing.

I really should get crackin on playing God of War II. I bought it for teh PS3 but have yet to play it. Does it play like shit like the BC games on 360? There was a mission in TH3 where you have to grind the rails in the shipyard for the movie scene and it blacks out when you grind over the dynamite so you can't see shit. If there are problems like that in GoWII I won't even bother.

Yeah, they are :p I beat both in one sitting. The funny thing is other games like it (oh... like... Conana!) are of the same time frame (6-8 hours) but get points off in reviews for the shortness unless GoW and GoW2.
Personally, I hope this means they're going to take the open world of Assassin's Creed and keep the good ole action and puzzles of God of War.
First, each one individually in one sitting. Not both in one sitting.
