Rumortoid: Fable 2 Collector's Edition gets even smaller [Update] photo

According to a Kotaku source, it appears as though the Fable 2: Collector's Edition is about to get even smaller. A letter from Microsoft getting passed around by UK retailer GAME tells a story of woe, toil, and strife. According to the letter, the developer diary and soundtrack will no longer be included on the bonus DVD.

We have recently contacted you regarding a marketwide problem with the Fable II Collectors Edition. We have since been informed by Microsoft that there has been a further complication. They have advised us that the developer diary and soundtrack are no longer going to be available on the bonus DVD.

The last time we talked Fable 2 Collector’s Edition it was under the unfortunate circumstance of the set being trimmed as a result of “supply chain issues.” Consumers who preordered the bundle got a $10.00 price reduction for missing out on a premium box, five printed cards, and a Hobbe figurine. Now, it looks as if the only thing collector about the special edition of Fable 2 will be the bonus in game content.

Is there any point to the pre-order anymore? Are the Spartan armor and energy sword that awesome? We’ve sought contact with Microsoft about this newest problem and are eagerly awaiting response.

[UPDATE: According to Lionhead's official blog today, the above information from that circulated letter is erroneous. No further cuts have been made to Fable 2: Collector's Edition. Thanks goes to TnS for giving us the heads up.]

Well I'm still paying the same price I would pay for the regular edition so it's not really a big deal.

Lionhead: No Further Cuts in Fable II LCE.

There is an email from GAME doing the rounds on the internet, claiming that the LCE has been further reduced. This information is incorrect; there are no further cuts in the Limited Collectors Edition.

The Developer Diaries and Soundtrack were never going to be a part of the bonus DVD, these can be downloaded for free.

The DVD is still there, they just had to cut stuff from it. It also comes with a two-day gold trial card from Amazon.

what do you actually get in the special edition then? a punch in the face?

How ironic that a Molyneux product is already not doing what they excitedly told us it would.

ignore my earlier sceptiicism, it's nice to see that GAME is keeping up it's usual high standards.

Okay, so it's not really a cut, but would it have been terrible to put the developer diaries on the DVD as well? They're kinda big, and it would save precious room on our hard drives.

Nice, but I wasn't planning on wasting my money on a silly collector's edition anyway. Maybe gamers don't know this, but the economy is sucking more and more these days... Global economy at that. So why waste money on a DVD showing you how they made a game that you should be playing? Instead, use a torrent site; that DVD will be up there.

DryvBy..

If you consider that it's a bit more money for a collector's edition, you would realize that any money going into the economy is a good thing. Buying stuff strengthens the economy.

Anyway, I probably wont be picking up Fable II anymore, this seems to be going straight to Hype Hell.

What a shame this is. I have little doubt that the game will be anything but amazing, but it's never a good idea to offer much, and then give less.

At this rate the CE will be lucky to include the game disc itself... *facepalm*

This just in Fable II CE does not include game manual.

Yeah but when gas/food goes up and you wasted your money on 'collector's editions' instead of saving it, you just broke your own economic future.

True, it does ruin you personally. Which is why I will not eat or get gas so I can buy vidja games.

Sound good?

Has any one ever offered something like just an art book and then 4 weeks before launch announced, "Hey, we're adding a lunch box, cool figure, and awesome weapon to our LE enjoy!"?

If any publisher ever did that I would buy the LE no matter what the game was. Barbie Vs Ken (I'd be so there)!
