Rumortoid: Dragon Quest IX getting DLC photo

You know what DSiWare means? It means that DS games can finally enjoy the fun-filled world of downloadable content! A rumor from NeoGAF hints that this potential will soon be realized by Square Enix, with DLC keeping Dragon Quest IX fresh for a very long time.

The rumor suggests that Squeenix will be delivering downloadable missions for Dragon Quest IX once a week. In addition, the game allegedly contains twenty-five treasure map bosses, including 12 old bosses from Dragon Quest's past. The bosses start at level one, and get stronger as you continue to beat them. Apparently, it's also possible to recreate past heroes thanks to rare drops.

It looks as if Square Enix wasn't lying when it said that DQIX was going to be big. If this stuff is true, then the game is quite possible the largest and most expansive portable game ever made. Sounds like you'll get your money's worth, in any case.

I wouldn't be surprised; Looking at their WiiWare offerings, Squeenix has been beating even Namco in terms of milking DLC.

If this is true, I am definitely getting a DSi. Hopefully they won't be douches and overcharge on it.

Why can't this game come out now? I am replaying Dragon Quest IV and remembering why i love this series.

Fuuuuuuuuck. I really don't want to shell out for a DSi... although I refuse to pay for DLC anyway, so it's probably moot.

Still, recreating the heroes from IV and VIII is such an awesome prospect.

The more I hear about it - the more I want it. DLC or not.

How is this a rumor?
Downloadable quests and shop items are all known features before the game's release. Famistu even reports about it.

This is apparently what WiFi is used for in this game.
(It is still local multiplayer though.)
And I think all the DLC are completely free so there should be no worries about the cost. :P

Not a DQ fan, so still not getting a DSi.

I doubt the DLC will be worth the expense, especially when shoveled out at a weekly rate. But we'll see, I guess.

This is NOT a rumor, it was confirmed that there will be downloadable missions every week for a whole year.
