Rumortoid: Do these screens confirm three Tool songs for Guitar Hero World Tour?

11:20 AM on 08.08.2008, Nick Chester 35 comments

     Xbox 360

If these curious screenshots found over at Tool fan Web site The Tool Hotline are to be believed, three of the band's songs will appear in Activision's upcoming Guitar Hero World Tour: "Vicarious," "Schism," and "Parabola."

While the band or its songs have yet to be confirmed for the Neversoft-developed full-band game, rumors and supposed leaks have hinted that they would be included. This is the Internet we're talking about, after all, and these screens certainly aren't a solid confirmation.

We will say this: having sat in on demos of Guitar Hero World Tour being played, the menus and images in the screens don't necessarily match up with what we've seen. With that said, these images could be taken from the game's single-player tour mode, which we haven't yet seen in action.

We've pinged Activision Blizzard reps for comment, so if we hear anything, we'll let you know. In the meantime, take in this information with nine pounds of salt. After the jump, find a rumored "leaked" set list from the upcoming game as well. More salt, please!

[Thanks, power-glove!]

I just don't see why they'd include 3 songs from the same band on the disc. Maybe two of them are DLC.

That's okay. I'm hoping Rock Band will also get Dammit, better Sublime songs, and Acrobatic Tenement-era At the Drive-In.

The reason why I think this "COULD" be valid is because of the background. That's actually they same kind of art (the eyes all interconnecting) that Tool used on their 10,000 Days album, and since the song in the screenshot is Vicarious which came from the 10,000 Days album, I'd lean toward this information to be correct, that they ARE in the game.

I think that list is a fake, I read an article on Kotaku that some people at Stuff magazine got some time with the game and they played In The End by Linkin Park and Bullet with Butterfly Wings by Smashing Pumpkins among some others. I can't find the actual article though because their search engine is horrible.

Very meh list.
A few repeats from the RB2 list as well.
Not a tool fan at all, so that doesn't make me want to buy this either.
Especially with RB2 having Bob Dylan, Talking Heads, and Beck.

Not a Tool fan here...but, objectively, this is making GH:WT that much more tantalizing.

I'm still with RB2 though...I'm a diehard Modest Mouse fan and I'll buy a game just to play their most overplayed song ever.

PDA by Interpol too...BUT GOD GW:WT HAS OBSTACLE 1!!

Ah I am torn!

That set list isn't phenomenal, but its not bad. I'll still probably play the game.

Wow, Omar Rodríguez-López gets a song from each of his 2 major bands (At the Drive-In and The Mars Volta). Too bad there aren't any songs from his first band, Startled Calf back in El Paso.

Wait, wait. Satch Boogie? In a game where you can play on vocals?

I declare shenanigans!

Nice list (if real), but they could have picked a better R.E.M. song. I'll probably buy it and play it with my Rock Band instruments.

I know that this is compatible with the 360 Rock Band instruments, but how about the PS3's?

I saw the list a couple weeks ago. It said those three Tool songs are in the Undertow tour. This list doesn't include Bullet With Butterfly Wings, which I remember being posted here before, so this list may not be all true.

Though more than 1 song per artist per disc would be nice..

Tool isnt even on itunes, so it's unlikely that they'd license songs for a game. But who knows. If Tool *is* in GH World Tour, that would be a selling point for me.

That setlist is uber fake sauce. No Bullet With Butterfly Wings and Light My Fire is The Doors song. It's not a great list either but that's beside the point.

I felt a bit 'meh' for rb2, and im even more 'meh' for this list. None of the Tool songs particularly interest me (Wheres Lateralus? Aenima, Hooker with a Penis, Stinkfist?). Not to mention, Assassin is one of few Muse songs i dont like, and I think that What Ive Done is utter shit, even for Linkin Park.

But if what these people are saying is true, and this actually has Bullet with Butterfly Wings (FUCK YES) and In the End (Mega nostalgia!), gh:wt could end up pretty good.

I remember hearing that there was some sorta confirmation from Tool or someone Tool related that they would have something in GH4, and that it would be exclusive because they were going to have their own art in the game. That screen kinda relates to that, so maybe it is real.

So nothing off of Opiate or Undertow? I will pass. I liked Tool a long time ago. Too much Aenima radio play killed it for me. Though, "Triad" off of Lateralus would be fun as hell to play. It is funny "Vicarious" would be on there, seeing as the player is vicariously playing the song on a plastic instrument instead of a real one.
