Emphasis on the Rumortoid. A supposedly leaked scan from this week's issue of Famitsu shows what looks to be information on an "enhanced" version of Square's infamous classic, saying that it's headed for the DS. While there are plenty of you out there who may already NOT have Chrono Trigger on your NOT DS, the prospect of something like this is still pretty exciting, huh? A translation of the scan roughly reads as "Square's classic fantasy RPG comes to the Nintendo DS, winter 2008." It then goes on to say that a price point has yet to be decied and all that sort of super-interesting nonsense. So is it real? Faked? And just how enhanced is "enhanced?" I suppose we'll know for sure when this week's Famitsu is released. Man, wish they'd give us a real sequel (didn't like Chrono Cross so much) instead of another remake.

Oh man, if only that little screenshot were just revealed a bit more? I'm left wondering two things:
-- Does "enhanced" mean its getting the treatment FFIII and FFIV got for their DS incarnations?
-- Does Square plan on using this as a way to revive one of their most beloved franchises?
It's fake as shit. No way they would announce this without a major event...happening...E3...weeks away...

Do NOT want! I freaking hate playing anything on the DS dpad. If microsoft hadn't gotten the idea of making crappy consoles in addition to crappy computer software it'd be the worst dpad ever made. I'd rather re-buy it on virtual console (or WiiWare if they need to do that to charge $30 for it) than play it on DS.

Since Chrono Trigger is my favorite game ever, I'm hoping this is true. But blury/shitty scans are almost all fakes so I won't get my hopes too high. Also, I seriously don't know how they can "enhance" the game. I hope they don't make it like FF III DS, I love the game but it doesn't fit CT.

And now we watch Square Enix cancel this, given that it's true, like they've done with everything chrono trigger since chrono cross.
if they do it, they'll probably turn it 3D and I will be pissed.
Even though I (haven't) played a (not)ROM version anyway, I just became far more interested in getting a DS.

If this is successful and sells a lot, I sure as hell hope Square takes it as a VERY positive sign to continue with the Chrono series. Despite already having this (FFChronicles!), I'd definitely re-purchase it for the DS.

I call fake. Just how do they plan to revise this game for the DS's features? I seriously can't think of any way they can do that without significantly altering the story.

It doesn't have to use the DS's features. The DQIV remake doesn't really aside form using two screens. If they bump up the graphics a bit and clean up the translation I would be happy with that.

Whya re they making this? CT was an awful game. This needs to be a new game that is Cross-related or it needs to not come at all.
Anyone who wants a Cross game over a Trigger sequel (cuz god knows Cross was never a sequel to Trigger, rather it was an orgional game that tried (or was forced, Square was in the right phase for that nonsence) to shoe horn in Trigger's nonsence and ended up pissing off a lot of people in the process) should be drug out into the street and forced to play Dragon Quarter (a simmilar failing; it's not a Breath of Fire game, it's barely a game in of itself, it's a meens of torture).
Then, just as they think thier justly deserved punishment is over, they should be slaped in the face with a gameboy advance playing Sonic the Hedgehog Genisis.
And then forced at gun point to play that to the end.
Then we'll see who wants what.
There is no awful Chrono Trigger sequel that did nothing to advance the story bar killing the three main cast Members of Trigger and leave the two best supporting party members MIA.
