Rumortoid: Bungie and Rare game announcement next week? photo

According to an “industry insider,” Bungie and Rare are allegedly set to announce new games at a Microsoft European event next week. The source from Gamer, who is said to have obtained the information “directly from Microsoft,” was unable to confirm which titles would be announced or apparently the date of this mysterious event.

As for speculation, one would suppose that any unveiling done by Bungie would consist of the Halo announcement pulled at E3 this year. Could this be the time and place for Bungie to reveal one of the most anticipated announcements of the year? I asked my jelly donut this morning if such an announcement was possible at an event that we can’t confirm or deny. The donut said nothing, but it tasted quite good for what it's worth.

That leaves the Rare portion of this equation and as we understand it, Rare will have nothing up its sleeve until the release of Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts. As much as I would like to have a Killer Instinct 3 announcement, it doesn’t look like its in the cards. We contacted Bungie and Microsoft about the supposed announcement, but I can already tell you what Microsoft is going to say:

Microsoft does not comment on rumors or speculation.
Take it with a grain of salt? Absolutely. But a Halo announcement would be a beautiful thing, wouldn't it?

I wish MS never got ahold of Rare. Its been so long since we've seen their creativity let loose. Its depressing how MS destroys their studios. Bungie was smart enough to break free before they met an equal fate.

I don't know about a Halo announcement but I'd be interested to see if Rare was given any creative freedom.

Honestly, I think that Halo is all used up. Yes, we are also getting Halo Wars, but I truly think that it is spent already.

Why not just create a new franchise within the Marathon universe?

I want my level creator to have a release date, Bungie. Your teasing hurts me.

Master Chief a playable character in KI3

@Volomon
They have allowed them, what do you thin Viva PiƱata is? I don't like Rare's current direction with games but they have taken a risk with it. Just because they may not make something you like doesn't mean they aren't being creative. I never liked Banjo or Conker but I never thought less of them though for making them or felt they "weren't being ceative", it was a direction I couldn't get.

Wasn't there an issue with KI, though? Like some licensing issues between what Nintendo owned and what Rare owned? That may or may not have een fanboy conjecture I'm recalling...
